I hope this is a sign that the US’s soft power influence is truly in the shitter and not going to make a comeback.
What’s sad is Americans in America arent looking at Americans with disgust.
Everyone just wants to blame the politicians and pretend they haven’t been cultivating this culture through consumerism and groomed tradition. Fuck trump, but I’m not going claim he’s to blame. American culture made trump.
In other words, settler colonialism which then developed into imperialism (and a lot of systemic racism to go with it). But yeah, there is a certain amount of, “Trump isn’t what we are” kind of reaction to things. You are right though and it’s similar to Hitler that way, in that Hitler had white colonialism going “gasp, how could anyone ever do that, what an anomaly” when it was what they’d been doing for hundreds of years. As Aimé Césaire puts it in Discourse on Colonialism:
It’s not exactly the same, but there’s a similarity in how people don’t want to face up to the fact that the mask off version of them is still them. That liberalism is not a morally upstanding position and until they fundamentally reject imperialism and colonialism, all they are doing is pretending to care about liberation. Liberty and liberation are not the same. Liberalism will vie for the first one as abstract individual liberties but is incapable of liberation because system level liberation means the end of liberalism and the creation of socialism and then communism. Liberalism wants to have its cake and eat it too: maintain an elitist hierarchy while also trickling down some vague “freedoms”. Liberation, on the other hand, demands the end of elitist hierarchies through collective ownership of power (the means of production and distribution) and through dramatic transformation of society over time to uplift people materially and of mind; lift people out of poverty, turn worker and intellectual stratification into worker-intellectual combined in each person, and so on.
You mean US citizens in the US.
People from other countries of America often call US citizens “gringos” or “Yankees” with disgust.
Now that I think about it, gringo & Yankee are a lot less clunky-sounding than Statesian or USian.

Europeans are so fucking brainwashed…
I may have to adopt using Yankee over USian. I picked up the second one a while ago on account of the distinction about who all is actually “American”, but USian does feel pretty clunky.
i prefer ameriKKKan for this reason. usamerican if i must. at least the maoists are good for naming things.
There are Maoists?
USans are not the same as other Americans.
“Gringos” is a slang for foreigners, not something exclusive for Americans. I would be a gringo in Chile even though I’m from Brazil.
i was saying boo-urns
No one irl gets it when I say this. Glad to find like-minded people on communist-reddit
Hexbear even has an emoji for it.
Well, we do hate each other here. Its pretty crazy.
Or maybe I’m mostly just projecting?
Yeah but that comes out of artficial political polarization and culture wars, not disgust with the class nature of the state and its imperialist project.
We hate each other and then rally around the flag to hate our designated enemies.
It is a big sign of what you mentioned and it is also one more evidence that people are out there agitating through mass line orgs against US imperialism.
Hopefully, this trend will keep getting stronger now that the ugliness of the US empire is transparent for everyone to see.
