“Quite honestly, I don’t know why I did it,” Morrissey continued. “I was not meaning to hurt him. It is something very out of character for me, and I am truly ashamed.”

But in an extensive interview with VTDigger Tuesday afternoon, Carroll rejected Morrissey’s argument that the episodes were “out of character.”

One or two times, I’d say, ‘Well, it’s just a joke,’” Carroll said. “But no, this went on unabated from January until May, when she got caught.”

So out of character for her that she’s been doing it daily for months…

And the harassment goes back to 2019.

Being held accountable is what’s out of character for her, and she probably is ashamed she got caught. But she’s going to do it again.

The ghost inside targets another Republican lawmaker, this time causing them to harass their peers.

I really wish journalists would stop accepting that excuse. Every time a famous person does something shitty their apology always excuses their own behavior by saying something along the lines of “yeah but that’s not who I am, that wasn’t me. I did it but I’m a better person than that.”

Fucking press them on that. “It’s not you but you did it. So clearly it is you.”

I mean, it’s an elderly person acting strangely and aggressively, not really remembering it, and even when confronted with video evidence claiming that’s not how they act…

They should be straight up asking if she’s going to seek medical evaluation as she’s showing signs of dementia.

We need to stop handling this shit with kid gloves.

The last people to realize they’re experiencing signs of dementia, are the people experiencing signs of dementia.

Maybe they were always horrible people and were just always holding it in. But loosing that ability to hold it in is still a sign of normal age related mental decline.

“Who you are in the dark” is the trope name for how you act when nobody can see or know. Are you actually a good person, or are you only good when you’re being observed by people who’d judge you for being your true self. This is literally the same thing as “Santa knows if you’ve been good” and “God knows what’s in your heart.”

These kinds of people actually need an invisible, omnipresent judge to keep them from committing atrocities. They’re the people who, in a supernatural disaster movie, are the ones who turn to human sacrifice to try and appease whatever horrible thing is rampaging around outside or the alleged god who’s doing nothing to stop it.

Nah, you’re thinking too “Old Testament.” Nowadays you can behave as shitty as you want as long as you buy an indulgence “repent” for it.

“I’m not perfect, I’m just forgiven”.

Just one of the most nauseating things you will hear a xtian say. And these people will lecture others on matters of morality, claiming you need to be xtian to be moral.

Due to very strong ethical rules, journalists are not allowed to make conclusions on anything said when in “reporting” mode, only when they are in “editorial” or "opinion"mode, which has to specifically be mentioned. It’s why OpEds are strictly labeled. Otherwise, they have to report on what has been said by the parties being reported on.

I manage a large team of tech employees. I also have two teams of student employees below me. The students are the mature ones in the bunch, and the employees require constant handholding and places to dump emotions. From experience, older generations didn’t “grow up” in the same way as the younger ones, and that’s because their realities are vastly different. 50 years ago, it was much easier to get through life without really growing up–now you have to grow up or perish.

Could we please please please stop talking as if children are the worst? Everytime somebody misbehaves, there’s someone who calls it “childish” instead of “stupid” or “wrong”.

I agree, you could find it on a schoolyard.

But it’s not weird to get hung up about it, consider my angle: By talking like this, we’re defaming or decrying children. It will lead to less self-determination for young people in general, thus promoting the gerontocracy.

Children are not expected to be in full control of their emotions. Children are not expected to be experts in any field. Children are not expect to create laws for the country. By comparing them to children, we are saying they do not have the mental maturity to handle their respective duties. Which is a perfectly reasonable way of putting it. Children should never be in charge of anything important. They should be figuring life and themselves out before their soul gets caught in the gears of capitalism and is crushed for its value.

“Her favorite was, she’d be in proximity to me — either near the elevator, or in the lunch line, or at one of the ice cream socials — and she’d say, ‘What is that smell?’ and she’d recoil from me,” Carroll said. “She would say it in front of other legislators, and it was humiliating.”

I love this move. Should I stop doing it to people?
