He hasn’t been hiding it either lol. He’s (openly) behind the AI Horde, which pretty clearly tries to democratize AI inference. One of the only good people in the AI space IMO.
maybe, but i just dislike ai “art”. on a deeper level than all that ethics stuff. like, it feels so ugly in a weird way. idk
Completely understandable, and I’m not really a fan of AI art either. IMO the best use cases of A"I", really statistical learning, are for technical problems that come with data. (We should reject the marketing that these systems are intelligent in any meaningful capacity, especially when they are useful. And we must acknowledge that we are overloading the term “learning”, i.e. statistical learning says nothing about the learning by people and animals it is inspired by.) But at the time that this community really took off, we didn’t really have the community members to draw it. (This account is under a year old, but my SDF account is over 2 years old (if SDF ever gets their hard drive space 😆), and I had a VLemmy account that I made during the R*ddit API closure.) At least, to the best of my recollection, no one volunteered to do it.
I would definitely support replacing the banner with a human-made banner if we can all decide on one.
