Anyone know why they decided to close down?
The person that created it, on Twitter as @AnarkioC, saw it got hardly any usage compared to other market places. He is also working with Doug Tuman on the new XMR Bazaar marketplace.
He also said he had problems that would result in him becoming homeless, and no longer able to maintain the site. Multiple people offered to help, including myself, but he never accepted any. Annoyingly, he has locked his Twitter account and deleted his tweets.
This is good to hear that he is working with Doug. He defiently has skills.

so talented guy , imagine in this reality no able to keep hosting for 40 $ per year / or lest …any way hope he will back stonger with douglas … we need souls like him

I believe it wasn’t sustainable / too little usage.
Marketplace sites take a long time to catch on, you cannot really expect much usage for the first 2 or 3 years, IMO.
