But a Chinese defence ministry spokesperson took a more hawkish tone at the year’s last regular press conference.

“The United States continues to strengthen its Asia-Pacific deployments, this is full of a Cold War mindset,” the spokesperson, Wu Qian, said on Thursday.

That’s hawkish? To state that the USA continues to strengthen it’s military deployments thousands of miles beyond it’s borders?

On the domestic front, Wu declined to comment on the removal this week of three executives at leading aerospace defence firms from China’s top political advisory body.

“I refer you to the competent national authorities,” he said, when asked about the reason behind the removals.

They couldn’t be arsed to actually follow up with the people who actually know the details of the removals and instead reported that they asked the wrong person as though there’s resistance to answering the questions.

    Believably terrible reporting from Reuters.

The article does talk about China trying to claim it’s the US’s fault that China and the Philippines recently had a confrontation,

I wonder … where did that confrontation take place? Was in closer to China, or to the Philippines?

And I wonder what that location might indicate about who’s an imperialistic jackass and who’s a tiny island nation minding its own business.

Also, the shit where China denies Taiwan’s existence and right to bear arms is pretty clearly China being a massive dick. It’s called dehumanization, and it’s what happens before you do horrible things to somebody.

So no, this article didn’t even try to make China the aggressor. It mentioned China whining about some things, which isn’t aggression.
