Yeah, that’s my thinking too. English, and language in general, is very fluid. Different regions will have different colloquialisms, and even different dialects of the same language. So long as we all understand what is meant does it really matter all that much how it was said?

But “Coffee fourth”/“fourth coffee” and “23rd July”/“July 23rd” are different things. I don’t think it’s a good comparison.

With the coffees you are counting how many you’ve had. The thing being counted is explicitly stated in the phrase.

With dates, you are not counting the number of July’s. This isn’t my 23rd July, but the 23rd day of this July. The thing being counted is only implied by colloquial understanding.

So yes, “coffee fourth” doesn’t work, but that doesn’t have much bearing on how to say a date in my opinion

They could be from Canada too. We’re in that fun zone of being mostly Oxford/metric/DMY, but due to proximity and history we still use a lot of Webster/imperial/MDY. My dad is from the past so he speaks in Fahrenheit but calls it “English”. Send help.

However, saying “July 23rd” feels more natural and efficient to me than “The 23rd of July”. That translates to me writing 07/23 over 23/07. To each their own though, I’m not gonna harsh any mellows over date formatting.

This is the right answer. It’s a big cryogenic refrigerator called a Dilution Refrigerator. It’s fancy stuff. Needs Helium-4, which is more common, and Helium-3, which mostly comes from nuclear production.

I said a “100% anti-car extremist”, as in someone who doesn’t want any cars. I was raised in a very rural town. There aren’t currently many viable non-car solutions to get to the “big city” where I currently live. How, without cars, would I currently be able to visit my family?

I am not disputing the negative impacts of cars. I am not your enemy, and you do not need to fight with me.

I have a Kia Soul for that reason. It’s small, but can haul a decent amount of stuff. The back seats are spacious enough for my tall friends, and with the seats folded down I can even fit furniture like couches and dressers. It also has a low hood, so I probably won’t be murdering any children. Gets pretty good mileage too.

I’m not a 100% anti-car extremist, but I definitely wish we had way better infrastructure for public transportation, bikes, and pedestrians in my city. I work just outside the city limits, and my 30-40 minute car commute would be like 1.5-2 hours on a bus. In my current reality I am chained to my car, so I went with one that I felt fit my needs without being horrific.

Would Obsidian work for you? The notes are stored locally, and the software uses markup for formatting and stuff. You can get it synced to your phone with Dropbox, OneDrive, etc.

I’m playing the ninja platformer N++. I’m probably not good enough to 100% it, but I’m having a blast with it.

Oof. It looks like you need to recalibrate your z height. Your print head went pretty deep there.

I’m not the biggest 3D printer person, but that looks like it’s just copper or something? It could just be a heat transfer layer to even out the heat distribution. If so, you should be fine. That area may come out a bit warped at worst, but the damage seems small. Do wait for more responses maybe, as I am not an expert.

You could also try printing again with the plate installed and see what happens. They do sell replacement parts online too.

Make sure you have analog button enabled on your controller. Go to options. You have to press “Select” (if I recall correctly) in the controller config screen (it should tell you at the top of the screen). Then you select “Steering” and press left/right on the d-pad to select analog/digital steering.

I really liked the differences between Corvo’s and Emily’s powers. I also like the variety of ways they allow you to complete tasks and combine powers.

Every November I play Dishonored. Just finished the main game, and now I’m playing the Knife of Dunwall DLC. Next will be Brigmore Witches, and then it’s on to Dishonored 2. I love these games yo.

I still play Dishonored every year. Those are not realistic graphics in the slightest, but it still holds up pretty well. Why? Style. I would 100% take a “lower” graphics game with style than a 100GB game with exquisitely modeled sandwiches.

Stylistic games also age better than realistic games in my opinion. Look at other 2012 games like Mass Effect, Far Cry 3, and Borderlands. Mass Effect and Far Cry went more realistic, and I think they suffered a bit for it in the long run.

Not saying Dishonored didn’t age tho. It does have that 2012 feel, lol.

Honestly, a bit ESH. The temp was out of line shoving everything on the floor. I can understand being upset by misgendering, but it doesn’t warrant an immediate tantrum. Even if you were a hateful douche about it it doesn’t mean they should ruin the coffee and doughnuts for everyone.

I don’t think you were wrong to say dude. Unless you really emphasize the “dude” I think it’s a perfectly casual way to address people. Modern usage has it shifting more towards “cool person” instead of just “cool guy”.

I do think the “nobody cares” part was a bit insensitive though. I don’t know where you are, but tensions in North America are high right now regarding trans rights (not saying this person was trans, as there’s not enough info in the story). Lots of people care a whole lot more than they should about other people’s chosen gender expression, so it’s a touchy subject. I can understand that maybe you were coming from a place of “I don’t mind one way or the other”, but I don’t think that’s what it sounded like in the context. Especially with the “stupid” part thrown in.

Uhg, I hate when that happens. The worst is when realizing I haven’t eaten triggers my aloof interoception and I suddenly start shaking from hunger.

There’s also a profile thingy on the three dot menu at the top right I can click to change accounts. The hamburger menu may not exist for you if you configured Sync without it.

For me it was in the hamburger menu at the top left. Very top of that menu.

I’m very nearly done with ‘The Precipice’ by Ben Bova. Next is either ‘Rock Rats’ in the same series, or I start the Cosmere series by Brandon Sanderson. I’ve read all the Mistborn novels, and they’re fantastic.

Sanderson writes books faster than I can read, so it’s kind of daunting. Ben Bova is already dead, so I don’t have the same problem with him.
