Not on the website yet, but we are moving away from Revolt (currently revolt is bridged to matrix and vice versa) after some questionable moderation (read “censorship”) decisions made by the Revolt moderation team towards other communities. Revolt is open source and can be self hosted but it is not federated like Matrix is.
I just looked into revolt days ago, seemed like a decent discord clone but no federation and now this story have put me off for good :P
What was the questionable moderation from Revolt? First time I’m hearing this.
the mod team really loves to remove servers because they’re “against the law” without even receiving a formal legal complaint. the content they remove is, coincidentally, critical of a group a large part of the mod team is part of https://rentry.org/46pze https://shota.nu/6oghqsvn.png https://shota.nu/k8xjrswt.png
What does removing servers mean? Can they take down instances hosted by others or is this about removing stuff on their own instance?
no, they removed a server (as in, a discord server/matrix space equivalent) from their instance
