It’s been 22 days since https://burggit.moe/post/9644 , and I bet the demographic has shifted A LOT.
How did you hear about Burggit?
Just like someone in the last thread, I was on world, saw a post about defederations and how this specific place was a hellscape filled with sin and cunny.
Of course I’d fit in~
I was trying to figure out which lemmy instance to call home and browsed the instances list on lemmy.world. I think at the time this was the sole defederated instance and I had to see why lol
From shitjustworks defederation post. I’m not particularly into lolis, but I figured stuff I like will be judged and lumped in together with the broader “underage depictions” and will be banned anyway. It’s kinda sad that we’re defederated from the big ones as it will hamper our growth, and I’m not much of a poster myself. So I’ve taken it upon myself to comment more and maybe start posting soon to help.
Lemmynsfw defederation
I heard that sh.itjust.works and lemmynsfw defederated from this instance, had to check it out. Stayed because I like it better here.
This post made me smile!
Happy you like it here, we love having you!
Huh. I found it via the itjust communities list

Through this great tool that lists fedi instances http://demo.fedilist.com/
I don’t think you should be that concerned attracting people that are just now migrating from reddit.
Anybody who still used reddit up until a week ago doesn’t care about free speech at all, if he isn’t actively against it that is.
The free speech side of the fedi as a whole is much more fun than the censoring one.
Overtime the ban happy side will fracture into multiple completely isolated instances just like the mastodon/pleroma side has.On the other hand there is a gigantic pool of people that have been leaving reddit for the past decade or so and either went to small forums, pleroma or imageboards. Reddit becoming a hyper censored corporate storefront was a gradual process.
Initially found it through searching for incest communities on lemmynsfw. My initial impression wasn’t great, was expecting a bunch of 4chan types and didn’t really investigate further. Later on I came back and actually read the rules and decided the place looked okay after all.
Created an account on here specifically because I wanted to make a version of r/incestconfessions (plug) that wouldn’t be subject to the tyranny of the credit card companies, who are responsible for a lot of the sanitization that’s been imposed on much of the internet over the past decade or so. Not just Reddit, but also places like Fetlife and PornHub.
Hoping to see other kink communities migrate over here too, especially with lemmynsfw going full vanilla. It bothers me that all the mainstream instances have defederated us though. Reduces our visibility and makes it less likely that people who aren’t specifically seeking loli stuff will make their way over here. Nothing against people that like loli hentai, I’m just hoping for more breadth of interest.
I also moved here to fork a community since LemmyNSFW went puritan. The other degenerate stuff here is just a bonus :)
I was just looking for a server that wasn’t going to choose for me what I can and can’t see. Like, I’m an adult. If I don’t like it I’m fully capable of doing that myself. I don’t need your protection, thanks.
I was looking for my first Lemmy instance to call home after the reddit debacle because I wanted access to nsfw content without using Reddit’s garbage app.
Initially I went to lemmynsfw so I could make a nsfw community freely in case the type of content I wanted (wink wink c/armpits nudge nudge) didn’t exist already. Then I realized they were really restrictive with content so I searched for an instance (literally googled nsfw Lemmy instance lol) that actually allowed freedom with nsfw content and here we are. I’m happy here with my little niche.
Around the time of the reddit protests, was looking at one of those “reddit alternative” posts that referenced Lemmy. One of the links given was to a list of servers with a short blurb on them, which included Burggit, the blurb of which made it quite clear what sort of community it was which caught my eye. I didn’t have time to explore much of anything right then but a few days later when I clicked through a link in a different post to the same list, I noticed that Burggit had been removed, which had the effect of making me go out of my way to find it again (since I didn’t remember the actual name).
I read some of the public posts at that time, and re-visited a few times (not having the time to figure out the whole Lemmy thing right then) to keep tabs on developments and liked the basic premise behind things and the directions things were going.
Same. I was positive I saw burggit listed on the official Lemmy website but then disappear a day or two later.
Caught my intrigue as well.
Which is weird, because they still list exploding-heads. Some kind of red/brown alliance bullshit going on?

Burggit…? What’s that? It sounds like a ripoff of Reddit…
Wait, this isn’t my local Burger shop? I must be in the wrong place!
Shouldn’t you be on wafflit?
r/Touhou_NSFW directed me to this after the Reddit Blackout.
I was trying to move on from Reddit anyway, so I tried to see if there were any Lemmy instances more accepting of my interests. A quick google search later, and here I am.
Can’t remember tbh. Adhd + disoriented in a new platform = I just click any link and hope for the best and immediately forget where I came from.
I do remember I saw it mentioned many times and visited a few. I thought it was just another Linux instance, then I realized it had a bit more of a freeish/weird vibe and decided to see what was up. Can’t remember how things went that I decided to sign up. Probably something to do with nsfw being disabled for outsiders and me wanting to see what was up.
(to be fair, the Burger logo did disorient me a lot)
