Can’t we just tell the USA that European minerals are of SI standard and therefore incompatible with the USA’s ones?

Fun fact: we actually officially changed to the metric system via the Metric Conversion Act of 1975. It just was never funded.

To be fair, it is commonly used in science, engineering, medicine and the military.

And while people commonly bring up calibers, drugs, etc. as example of it being used. My favorite is that pretty much every single car mechanic in the US can show you an approximation of a centimeter. Because 10mm bolts are so commonly used that they’ve all lost at least one wrench and/or socket.

          Metric Conversion Act of 1975

          Sorry. Who is we?

‘We’ - context clues - would be easily guessed to be the subject of the jab in question, as the form suggests a riposte of sorts, to be the US. And, in fact, they did: they maintain their copy of the One True Kilogram and derive their imperial measurements from that golden kilo. See, they were secretly imperialists the whole time!

Oh shit. Don’t say Golden Kilo to Cheesy Don or he’ll try and sell shares.
