A unit is a unit, so the dosages are the same. What varies is onset curve and length of action, so timing.

The deductible system is ridiculous.
The subs would be R and NPH, not the old mixed formulas like 70/30.
The old formulas you can buy OTC for $25 are more inconvenient to use, but will indeed keep you from dying. The main difference between the R insulin and Novolog/Humalog are how quickly they act. Novolog starts lowering your glucose in about 60 minutes while the R takes 2 hours. Dietary management is not related to which insulin you’re using, at least for type 1. The long acting substitute, NPH, is a lot more difficult to use than Lantus though. It still works. I ran out of good insulin on a trip last year and had to sub the R and NPH and did have some issues with hypoglycemia. I’m more qualified to swap them on my own than many people though (lots of people are not informed enough to change their dosage without professional medical advice).
So yes, the claim that OOP’s only alternative to paying $800 was to die is not true.

12·2 months agoyes, in fact I know a large group on the internet composed of 80% straight cis women, 10% lesbians and 10% trans women of whatever preference who very openly despise men of any sort. “You can’t trust him! He has a penis!”. Terrible people.

3·3 months agoThis makes me wonder what the first time was. Pong and Yar’s Revenge weren’t really comedy material. Maybe The Quest for c64, where we got annoyed at the game always saying “gorn doesn’t want to go that way”. I guess that’s not intentionally humorous though. Maybe Monkey Island?

I hate the mofos who do that.

Right. I starved even with food in T1 onset and then later got DKA, which was excruciating.
Ozempic is expensive af. Even more so than insulin.
That’s true, t1 and t2 are basically opposite conditions with some overlapping effects. A significant portion of people with type 2 do use insulin, though.
The old forms of insulin (R, NPH) are already cheap and available at Walmart without a prescription. They are only $25 a vial, but suck to use though. Pretty sure they’re referring to the metabolic drugs given to people with type 2.
Yes. Thank you. I have T1, and with T2 being ~20 times as common, I don’t think the difference will ever be understood by the public. I wish it would get a different name, though that wouldn’t lower the price of insulin, right.

42·1 year agoI was in a post on reddit sometime when we all got lectured about how every vegetable oil sucks and it’s better to eat lard or duck fat or tallow. “You clearly don’t know about lipids”. Haven’t figured out of that’s true or not but I’d definitely rather use butter than margarine.
Apparently not that clear since you don’t seem to get it and are saying offensive nonsense. Conversations like this always make me wonder if people are just being disingenuous. The only other alternatives are you think Palestine is the only important thing in the world, or have reading comprehension difficulties. Or maybe don’t get US politics at all.
The way the US works right now, the people don’t have the power to choose politicians who would not support Israel. It’s just a fact. We can change our lack of true democracy, but it’s going to take a while. In the meantime, bashing Biden and helping Trump get elected gave absolutely no help to Palestine. Trump’s own remarks make this clear. I don’t “accept genocide” but I have no choice, and as I’ve been trying to point out to people for the entire year, Trump is very obviously much worse on a dozen serious issues, including Ukraine, LGBT rights, immigration, financial and environmental and labor regulations, and corruption. So why get him elected over Palestine when he’s not going to help Palestine but will fuck over tons of other marginalized groups? That makes no sense.
It’s weird how much people miss the point on this topic. You’re doing exactly what I just commented about. If someone else had been President, 98% chance they would have done the exact same things.
Welcome to why singling out Biden and Harris for supporting Israel was so stupid. The entire US establishment supports Israel with few exceptions.

The extra ridiculous thing is how they deny services that a doctor says are medically necessary… and not even in a reasonable way, in an abusive way. Like the system that automatically denies 60,000 things an hour or whatever, and count on people wasting tons of time to challenge it. Or when they have an ophthalmologist review your kidney disease and say that some treatment isn’t warranted. And that’s even after you’ve paid your stupid deductible costs for the year.
