Yes! My main frustration with kbin/fediverse in general lately has been finding actual content to subscribe to.

I actually did not know that! It’s a little hard to tell that icon is actually a button with a function. Still used to Reddit’s layout I guess :’)
I’m also hoping we’ll get a way to expand the image while still embedded in the feed instead of opening it in fullscreen and having it block everything else
New players don’t seem to realize that you can completely ignore the personal story. It just gives you something to do (and some rewards like while getting to level 80, which is really easy nowadays. I would recommend you make a few alt characters to try out different classes and see which one you like the most. Just take it slow and try whatever looks interesting and dont feel obligated to stick with one activity! No need to learn everything all at once :p
The back buttons are mandatory, and there’s a specific config someone made that I altered slightly for personal use, but I can’t remember the creator’s name. It was the highest used one at the time I downloaded it though. There’s definitely a small learning curve, but the reward is portable access to a great MMO!
Honestly I absolutely love the customizable nature of the Deck for individual programs, especially because I was able to pair 4 different build and equipment tabs to each of the face buttons so I can swap between all 3 elite specs for my engi main. I just wish they had official controller support with their UI like how I’ve seen FFXIV’s hotbar with multiple on-screen “pages” you can flip through easily.
Lack of hotbar boat also makes it a great game for Steam Deck!
I agree the top right one has just enough detail to be a good mascot. I’m also glad to see the kbinaut/kbeanaut name taking off haha
As of now you can access it through your profile or via https://kbin.social/u/(yourusername)/subscriptions but a quick access menu would be nice
I’ve actually gotten back into Guild Wars 2 for the first time since its release over a decade ago, and I’m really enjoying all the new content they added. It SEEMS complicated with all the MMO-style currencies but you can honestly ignore most of them and go at your own pace because there’s so much to do but none of it is required to have fun. It’s even more casual if I’m using a low intensity character build, aka just left click in combat to win
It would be nice to automatically generate a sidebar of other instances that cover the same topic in the magazine/subreddit of your home instance that you’re currently browsing, because right now if I want to follow “gaming” as a general topic outside the kbin.social magazine, I have to search for it manually on those other instances or find someone from my home instance who posted a comment with the address to that topic in the external instance.
I’m sure each site has its own priorities right now, but a more streamlined search method for topics/interests would be awesome.
Also, dog
Zom 100 looks promising, but the crown jewel for me will probably be Mushoku Tensei. I’ll finally get to find out why childhood friend elf girl is wearing Kamina glasses!
Kbinauts to the moon! Signing up now!
I’m trying to get “kbinaut” to stick.
I actually agree with what you’re trying to say about microtransactions cheapening competitive games. It’s why I stopped playing competitive games altogether, but introducing proper casual modes for singleplayer or PvE co-op games for no additional cost to increase accessibility only helps increase the number of potential players. The existance of casual modes does not have any correlation with competitive games or takes away from another player’s time invested into the same game, and it will not cause the “death” of video games. The reason why people are disagreeing with you is because you’re blaming other players as the cause when it’s actually corporate greed with overinflated MTX and excessive season pass shit that’s truely killing the industry.
