I’ve encountered the same, I paid for a few sessions since one of my buddies was trying to get up and started with a local group that charges to play at some bars around our town but after a few months stopped going because the guy in charge of the whole thing seemed sketchy and seemed to be more about trying to develop a cult of personality.

I’m definitely more on the side of not wanting to charge for my dming, but i can get why some would considering the effort that some can put into it.

A&M is my Alma mater from a decade ago, the school was always filled to the brim with conservative fuckwits, but they at least had to make a concerted effort to keep the mask on, but with the direction of the texas state government, the board of Reagents for texas a&m feel like this is a two birds one stone situation: they get to cozy up to state leadership at the expense of University of Texas, and say what they’ve been quietly thinking forever out loud for once.

For 2 years now, before even all of this started going viral, I’ve refused to support my Alma Mater, I dont watch their sports, I dont wear any of their merch, and I dont wear my class ring. I am truly embarrassed of where I got my degree, when it’s network used to be a great strength.
