I still get chills playing when the collosus jumps in-system first time and in subsequent scenes where your flying a incredibly tiny fighter vs capital ships that take up your entire screen.
I really haven’t felt that sense of awe in other space games oddly, and the story of both 1 and 2 was chilling.
Underrated for sure. But 99 was a amazing year for games (I’m a huge system shock 2 fan). But a cursory wiki look at 99 makes me feel so sorry for modern gen kids waiting over a decade for a new elder scrolls or GTA.
Bought it twice before I found here!
Yeah that’s also true, tbh I’ve been notorious for not getting into’ anything - I don’t personally follow game news or hype much in the last 10-15 years, I’l wait until my friends pressure me into ‘you have to consume X!’, often well after it’s out and forgotten. I let my friends be the canary in the gold mine, still not sure if that makes me a bad friend… Has helped me avoid amazing TV shows that get cancelled/shit the bed though (still haven’t forgiven GoT producers)
Yeah for sure, I’ve been fairly focussed on indies the last 5-7 years and only jump on AAA after it’s released and reviews are in/on special. I believe there’s only so large a human run corporation can be before it turns into an unmanageable mess and quality/focus of the product suffers, and most AAA are well past that point. Indies are the new small-medium sized fun Devs.
For sure! I definitely feel we’ve drastically slowed down but media is by no means dead. It can be harder to find the gems than before in some regards though.
I thought that too. Yes, big bad US corp, but privately owned and tiny staff footprint.
I’m not ditching my 20yo steam account on behalf of this graphic
