I think it’s fair to say absolutely 0 cars is also a problem. But we could use a bit more public transport, and less cars than what we currently have. Especially where we know many people move “in mass”, like cities in rush hour.

In all of life there is a balance.

If you think about it, being a nobody is the best thing you could be. You are not drawing attention to yourself, you are living in harmony with the environment. That’s pretty cool. Breathtaking, even! :)
Nonono, not freedom to be oppressed. It’s the freedom TO oppress! The freedom of oppression. That’s how they see things. They don’t like being oppressed as well, but they don’t care about that so long as they’re not the ones drawing the short end of the stick. Even if they knew of better ways to live, they still prefer the stick to be there, in a rigged way, so they can not only practice their freedom to oppress others, but prevent you from taking this freedom away from them.
However, bootlickers are different, because they have no power. So they are also oppressed. But the bootlicker, he wants to be oppressed because if nobody were there to be oppressed, in the rare occasion he finds himself with power, he will have nobody to freely oppress with it! So he will try to convince others that suffering is good actually. He needs others to suffer with him, otherwise he would be a fool, suffering alone and with no hope of ever becoming the oppressor.
I don’t know that all of them think this way, but this would be the only way for it to make sense. Of course, they won’t give the game away. They will try to rope you in with them.
Freedom, to oppress.
Guys, if you have asthma, ignore Lemmy at all costs. Everyone’s breathtaking.
I think the term “manly” has been so polluted. I don’t think there is nothing “unmanly” with:
We are capable of very complex modes of existing. There is no reason to keep being the same hateful person every day. It takes courage to go out of your confort zone. It takes courage to be a “man”. Whatever it is that word means. Love you all. <3
Edit: Guys, are comments like this valuable? On Reddit I felt the need to write this way, but everyone seems so chill here…
I just meant it was an aggressive tone, which might put off new members. Also, I might have equated “hate speech” with speech in which you show hate for something (ex, an admin team). Which is clearly wrong looking back, but I won’t edit it now.
Honestly it all depends on how paranoid you want to be. Say for example you had a rough breakup and want to get away from your significant other. For that person, maybe mentioning a city is enough to know where you will likely be? (Assuming they know it’s you using the nickname and location of family relatives, for example).
For a server host, like a Lemmy instance, if you don’t use a VPN, they could already have a general idea of where you live (if they wanted), even without you telling them. That’s because they can see the IP from all connections (if they wanted).
For a random person like me, on the other side of the world, I’d probably need a bit more than just the city.
I’ll leave what is a significant risk up to you. Just know that it depends on a case by case basis, who you’re hiding the information from, and how intent your opponents are in wanting to obtain that information. So, if there is little reward for the trouble, they probably won’t even try.
All of these things are generally called opsec (operational security), if you’re interested in researching more.
Internet safety reminder:
On posts like these, I encourage everyone to at least randomize the real values by a couple percent, round the values, or be vague on details. On occasion, even completely fabricate the values. The reason for that is to avoid doxxing through statistical analysis.
Btw, clear skies where I’m at. Very cool weather for a dive in the river.
It’s not like these old users were not fighting to protect your freedom of speech, by creating an open-source federated social network or anything. Yet you use that same freedom of speech they enabled for you against them on the same platform they created. Everyone here will fight for your right to do so, btw, but I just wanted to point that out.
Wait, chill. Won’t comments like this give them an example of “hate-speech” they can use against this instance? If they lie, it’s their problem. Hopefully their users realize it, but if not, we don’t need to feed into their narrative and prove their point. This is my opinion, anyway.
Edit: I have already been convinced I was wrong. I’ll still leave this comment up, despite the downvotes, so that replies still make sense.
We live in a capitalistic society. I’m a programmer myself, and the way I see it, if we can game the system as workers, we should. The bosses do it. The investors do it. Why shouldn’t we?
Man, I hate question headlines. They entice you to click a link while promising an answer that may not come. You do get ads, though.
Wish we lived in a society were titles were like:
Edit: Nothing against OP. I’m just venting about this little thing.
