You do realize that totalitarian dictatorship is the preferred method for governing a forum, right? And there are good arguments for and against. And discussions can be had abut that.

You get that, right?

Ideally we’d judge stuff democratically. Because you know, it’s a forum, not a pulpit.

Failing that, the moderator would try to predict what his flock prefers. For example, if 5 people are participating in a conversation then chances are they want to participate in the conversation.

And we love dictatorships.

It depends. If members thinks it’s appropriate enough to discuss then I should respect that.

That’s extra work, a delay, a step of misdirection for future participants, and we break whatever larger community we had going. And that chokes the convo. But yes, we could do that.
