  • Get out! I was thinking lately that I wish they would (re)release all of their games again so I can finally play the damn game with the bird-dog. A long time ago, a friend showed me a trailer for that game before it came out. I missed it, and maybe with them releasing a new game they might consider putting the old ones up for funding? I don’t care how awful the controls or the ai is, their games blow my mind, just like you said =)! Thanks for the heads up! I wonder if it’ll end up being an Playstation exclusive, or if they’ll open the channels up a bit more?

  • Ooo, last one of the night. I am excited because of the past “this movie is pretty bad and kind of goes nowhere but I still love it” kind of horror movies I’ve watched The Black Phone is one of them. I don’t really know what kind of setup they’re going for here, as I think the first one was based off a short story and I am not sure if there’s a corresponding short for this one. Likewise the last one ended in a perfectly cliche kind of way that makes you feel all warm and tingly. I’ll still give it a go though, when it’s out. Just probably not rushing to see this. Shrugs.

  • *You folks online need a hug or something, jeez.

I don’t like that you’re getting downvoted. A) You’ve got your own way of talking but I totally get what you’re saying. You are mayhapsby some kind of goth baby, and I am picking up this vibe from your text =)! b) I totally get what you’re saying. This for sure is something being done to play on people’s nostalgia. I heard something about how it’s easier to produce sequels and play on individual’s nostalgia than to create something new because it needs to establish a fan base to generally be successful. I think with more sub-cultures than ever before (thanks internet!) it’s easier to flop new ip because it’s harder to find the secret sauce to get the maximum amount of views plausible as audiences are more diverse than ever. I have also felt the way you’ve felt, about letting sleeping dogs lie. Letting things that have ended fade with dignity and such. I get it. I also see you’re doing what you can to stand by your own idealisms, which is to boycott the show. I don’t think your comment is worth downvoting, and I think there’s like…a subversive element of toxic positivity in people doing so. A wide variety of voices and opinions are needed in this world. Cheers!

  • I saw one other Polygon writer who found interesting indies trying to rally support to stay independent and financially well and I don’t think they reached what they wanted. It actually seems really hard to stay financially flushed without selling your soul or having a service that a lot of people truly want to use. It stinks. Of course, this is just my observations, I don’t actually know and you can always give your grant-writing skills some practice to get financial support.

  • I tried to give Until Dawn a go. I love horror movies, but I just don’t know. It didn’t speak to me. I don’t know if there’s one video game movie I have ever liked outside of Resident Evil…actually that’s a lie. I loved that OG Mario Bros movie that everyone seems to hate. That movie was the shit! Same thing for live action flicks from anime/manga too. Cause I am a crack head for Kuragehime (Princess Jellyfish) and no matter how solid they made that movie I just couldn’t get behind it.

  • I mean, I am all for failure as a whole. Cause it really is true what they say about the growth being in the action of failure. I also like tactics, but I like to have the space to think on the tactics I am enduring. I think it’s cool that a game introduced that in a very action-oriented way. There seems to be a lot of creativity in the creatures as well, which I like. I will say as I get older my reaction time has lessened even worse than I’d say it originally was. I never played shooters or anything, although I had friends go ham on them. I think perhaps it might be an incongruity with what I want out of a game with swords x boss battles. The game I think of when I think of big papa boss battles is Shadow of the Colossus. Cause it’s pretty much the only one I have ever played like that. I feel the game though, while exciting, is actually pretty slowly paced. Which makes it more accessible to me. Most “sword” games though, I want to play like a dumb-dumb. I wanna hack, slash, and feel all powerful. Smash everything in sight (Dynasty Warriors). I think the two clashing might also be making it difficult for me to pick it up.

But I guess the third thing is that pretty much any time I have grabbed a game that is hyper popular nowadays I don’t really seem to like it much. That might be an age thing too, idk. Might be a lot of things, but I generally think I might not be the audience for most AAA games. In fact, I know I am not =P!

  • Yeah, this is how I feel sort of in general. I think as I get older. If I am not having fun, it doesn’t really seem worth the venture. No matter how pretty something is, or how good everyone says something is. I also think often a lot of these games aren’t really designed with a player like me in mind. Which is fine, cause I suppose I am a minority in gaming. I just figured if someone could make a Soulslike that mobile gamers could play (easy enough to adapt) they’d make a mint.

  • I love Yahtzee and have since a hundred years back when a friend introduced me to him via…Amnesia or something like that (then had me play his bomb ass adventure game - the first one I ever played). I am so thankful that he posted a video on this. Cause these modern games going hard on timing based hyper-tough combat have pretty much made the inaccessible to me. Everyone has gone gaga over these modern souls-like games. I just don’t think I have the brain for quick responsive reactions. That’s okay, cause not every game is made for everyone. I do however love bigguns, body horror and phantasms. I have seen the majestic and creepy things in games like Elden Ring, and would love to smash the hey out of them. I just don’t think there’s a chance I could ever “get gud” enough to play to the expected parameters of this type of game when I can’t even do quick time events right. First mil to the person who can bring Soulslikes to the common man! Until then, I’ll play my turn-based clicky games with a dumb smile.

  • To be honest with you, I hate this fkin’ game! I never had it. I like the OG Donkey Kong, and Donkey Kong Jr. My sibby loved this game, although he only played it via roms back in the day. I had a group of friends who loved this game like crazy. I can’t even tell you much about it, because I suck at it so hard. I mean I am miserable at this game. I like the characters. The animations were out of this world. The soundtrack, super good. I still like that underwater song, and it’s what I think about when I think about this game. (Well in this order a) Fuck that giant baby b) Trixie (?) has flying hair - whee! c) Hornet boss. Pheh! d) Barrel smashing e) Crocks, I always think I am lined up to smash them but then get smashed by them f) That song was a banger tho)

Guess it’s called Bramble Blast . I just remembered the bramble part, this song is a banger =)!
