Walmart did this with their wifi recently, you have to enter an email to get access. Of course it makes sense that mobile data doesn’t really work inside a giant steel warehouse, but I can’t seem to recall not having any mobile data signal at all until my last walmart visit.

I used to keep to myself and look up the location of the item I was looking for online. If they want me to bother a floor person for it though, doing that is highly preferable to giving walmart my email to sell along with any information they can extrapolate from my usage of their network.

Huh? Quick search shows that Oliver Tree is 30 years old, so birth year ~1994 or so. The jazz design came out in 1992 and was widely available through the early 2000s, by solo cup after they purchased it from sweetheart cup in 2004… I really don’t see how he shouldn’t know where the design came from, but regardless it’s become a pop culture/nostalgia symbol because it’s just a good, widely recognizable design. What else does he need to know?

One thing that does have an influence? Money. While the opinions of the bottom 90% of income earners in America have a “statistically non-significant impact,” economic elites, business interests, and people who can afford lobbyists still carry major influence.

Of course if you focus only on people with money then you will come up with a conflicting result… so yeah. I also feel like I am missing something here.

Idk maybe I was never informed on how the fundamentals I learned in college applied to an entire electrical grid and the implications I would need to understand if I were to hypothetically own a home some day. Edit: The only surges I had heard of happening thus far were from power returning after an outage, and I’ve never experienced one afaik.

Yep. Happens a few times yearly for me here in the midwest, in every place I’ve ever lived, usually after a storm knocks out a power line or a transformer blows. It’s generally not for longer than a day or two but a direct lightning strike did knock it out once for like a week. Given, my state ranks pretty low for electrical grid reliability.

Our power companies, being privatized, have very little incentive to invest in their infrastructure until it’s already on its last legs and they can’t avoid it anymore. So they invest in politicians that let them put it off for as long as possible instead :)

lol. My bachelor of science in electrical engineering begs to differ but go off I guess.

Not to mention the massive loads they can haul which basically turn them into semi trucks, vehicles which you would in fact need a special license to operate, with worse visibility to boot. Way too many people out there hauling ridiculously large campers and sometimes even towing an extra vehicle at the end of their train with zero special training to do so.

Or you could not do that and still get where you’re going, albeit slightly less fast.

At the very least you should need a special license to operate them. They’re classed differently to avoid safety and emissions regulations imposed on regular cars, so its perfectly reasonable that there should be different requirements to purchase them and get behind the wheel.

Yeah I don’t really care to play with strangers and none of my friends have ever asked to play so I also stick to single player games when I do play.

That’s definitely what I’ve observed. The constant whining gets pretty grating, wish they would finally just form their own instances and defederate from whoever the hell they want. Instead they sit around in the largest most entry-level instance and badmouth and whine at the mods to cut off any instance where the majority view is to the left of and critical of the status quo.

That’s not how I read it… it’s not really democracy if the guy being voted for is lying to the voters without repercussion (thus obstructing the voters’ right to make an informed decision) so they can get into office and do things they know the voters wouldn’t have voted for. That’s anti-democratic in itself. This meme isn’t saying democracy bad, it’s saying that what we have now isn’t a democracy.

Adding to this; on top of allowing bacteria to multiply, tampons also cause micro abrasions (small tears) in the vaginal wall which allows that bacteria to enter your bloodstream much more easily. This happens under any conditions but especially if you’re using a higher absorbency than is necessary for your flow (or lack thereof). Do NOT use them for any length of time if you are not actively bleeding.

Could never use them for that reason lol, damn things were so terrifying when I was just starting out that I’d literally faint putting them in and taking them out and have serious anxiety while wearing them. Don’t know why anyone would take that risk when cups are so much safer and cheaper in the long run.

I stopped tracking my period at all cause I just have a sense for it now and it was annoying when I’d forget to log a period and my tracker would tell me ridiculous things like I had a 97 day cycle or something. Plus privacy concerns. The only time it becomes inconvenient is when a doctor asks when my last period started, which usually just illicits an “I dunno, not abnormally long ago” at which point they ask me for a firm estimate and I throw out a bullshit number that will get them to move on to more pertinent discussions. I got an IUD last year so varying cycle lengths and missed periods aren’t without a reasonable explanation.

Anyways, I usually get a dull ache in my upper thigh/lower abdominal area the night before as warning. Mine start out pretty light, so a simple panty liner will keep me covered for the first handful of hours the next day. Honestly though I think I usually catch it by wiping after doing my business and seeing a trace amount of blood there, before I see any in my underwear. Although there have been other times that I just got a sense of moisture at a point, so the panty liner is a nice layer of security.

If I’m going out of the house I keep some regular pads on hand just in case the time comes to bring out the big guns. Menstrual cups are also super safe to get ahead of the flow with though (no risk of drying you out and causing micro abrasions like with tampons) so there’s been a few times that I just popped that in from the jump. My workplace also keeps emergency pads stocked in the ladies room (as a last resort, those ones are SUPER bulky for some reason, way overkill)

Also the fact that the vast majority of our remaining rails are owned by private freight companies that get to make up silly rules like passenger trains having to pull over for ridiculously long and slow freight trains to pass them.
