  • I don’t see any signs of either.

I attended an international event on Friday, and was standing next to the Canadians. When I asked if they’d seen any shame or shyness, the two ladies at the table told me that two teenage boys had come next to the table and started singing the American anthem. I looked around and saw that they had stood between the Danish table, with the Ukrainian table a few meters away. They were just kids, but they were old enough to be able to consider what is right versa wrong. This suggests that there are American families abroad who internally think that American imperialism is not a problem, while living in another country. It’s not just domestic conversation.

Of note is that in these events are often found political and military representives of foreign nations, as opposed to just immigrants and residents.

  • I mean the general failure of capitalist idealogues, and imperialists destroying their own countries. I’m not great with detailed evidence, but Chinese abandonment of their working class, focusing on export production instead of domestic support - rich get richer and corruption grows. Indian divisive and racist politics, Russian imperialist destruction of their domestic economy to chase the dream of a king, South Korean cultism.

The world is a funky place with people really not feeling like they belong.

Not even gonna start on the mess that is the middle east, as that has been burning for a hundred years.
