  • I have a stick dangeling on my keychain too, also in heavy use. But due to my Mac-Friends i need one with usb-c. So I settled for this: 81gqM6ouEcL.SL1500-247235771 The hinge is still holding on since almost a year. Also have two of those: sandisk_ultra_dual_usb_c_flash_drive_3-1009136228 But they seem a lot cheaper, flimsier and I probably got ripped off by a dropshipper.

Havent benchmarked them, if anyone knows of a comparison as good as this one for “dual” usb sticks, let me know!

  • People who are using their cellphone/mobile as a telefon (calling someone) but not holding it as a telephone but as a slab in front of their face. And ofc with the speaker on.

Slightly better but still stupid: Videocalling (or Facetiming) with the phone right in front of their nose.

I mean, just hold the phone so that the speaker is at your ear and the mic is right by your mouth…

Nato is a group of independant, mostly democratic states. Nato generally doesn’t kill people, because it doesn’t attack, does not do genocide and most relevant for the meme, it doesn’t redraw state lines.

If Nato would do several of those things, you might have a point, please prove me wrong.

Also the second pic is ridiculous. What even do the Nato-emblems mean? It cant be singular bases or single memberstates. So what is it? And what about russias allies, why arent they painted/highlited? If one would want to show the big allies, the BRICS+ states could be marked. But like this, the second image is worthless.

  • Yes, 3 branches (just the standard separation of powers) and 3 “levels” (with the judicative branch 4 depending on the case). Swiss and US system is very similar. The big and important difference is the election system. The US has the shitty system that forces a two-party-situation over the years. We have a more proportional system, where you vote for a party (actually a list by a party but thats a detail) and for candidates. Then the seats are spread to the parties, if your chosen party doesnt win a seat, your vote isnt wasted (which would then require strategic voting which leads to two parties). Your vote is passed on to another party. Which one that will be, your party decides. So if you vote for “radical-left-party” and its members, this vote isnt wasted bit goes to another leftleaning party, which has a “Listenverbindung” (Joint up lists) with the “radical-left-party”.

And of course we have direct democracy (voting often on singular laws, also statewide/canton/communal) and we dont have gerrymandering but just the normal division into “Gemeinden” (literally “community”, which would be a county? or village/city in the US).

I dont want to be obnoxious or condecending, but i think the swiss has one of the best democratic systems while the US has a very bad system considering the US is known to be democratic and even the birthplace of democracy. It turns out that later updates to democracy were needed. :D
