What a bizarre comment. People don’t need to have what opinions are explained, do they?
All things are possible through Christ!

Yeah, I can sort of understand the impulse that everything must be preserved no matter what because we don’t know what will be useful or interesting, but it’s not realistic. Embrace ephemerality! It’s fine!
Well, this is a simulation. All observations and measurements can and will be falsified by the designers of the simulator. What can ya do?
I’m often extremely frustrated with liberals, but I can’t really hate them, at least not the regular non-politician types. Trump’s victory has put many liberals in a state of despair and anger and I understand that perfectly well, but their anger is often misdirected. Some are taking the election loss to mean that they need to move further right. The consultants and newspaper opinion writers, etc. do a lot to legitimize this point of view, and it’s a shame. Propaganda works, and we’re not immune to it. I feel I have more to gain by treating these liberals with respect and compassion. (I don’t always succeed, though!)
There are some liberals I can’t stand, mostly politicians and consultants. I definitely hate the openly misanthropic right wing people more, and there are a lot more of them.
This has started happening often while playing games remotely for me, which in some cases fad made it impossible.
I’m posting this comment with it right now. Many graphics on the lemmy ui are not rendering, but it’s way better than the last time I tried it about a year ago. So not “ready,” but encouraging.
Are pop culture references theft? No.
Plenty of easy solutions. I’m not here to tell anyone their preferences are invalid but I personally don’t consider the lack of a headphone jack to be a deal breaker when there are easy solutions.
This is just motivated reasoning. Someone thinking “Oh no, I look kinda like that guy! I’m fucked!” seems incredibly far-fetched to me.
Let me enjoy making fun of them! ;)
Just like on Reddit, that depends on the moderators of the sub/com. It really couldn’t work any other way. .world seems to often err on the side of being inoffensive for the sake of broader appeal. (And probably also not getting in hot water with their hosting partners, acquaintances, etc.)
You had to hit me with the word “literally?” 😆
I don’t know what you mean, though. “Meme” and “post” are two different words describing different things, even if they’re often related. They aren’t synonyms.
From what I can tell, that’s not unique to the lemmy network.
I guess being loathed and having an indifferent at best reaction to your murder is one potential negative consequence of participating in an industry that that devalues human life in exchange for profit as a matter of course.
What makes it “cartel style?”
The meaning of “meme” continues to drift. It’s almost synonymous with “post” now.
It’s hard to imagine Trump riding a bike.
The health insurance industry is an abomination. It’s completely across the purpose of keeping a population healthy to try to extract and concentrate wealth out of the process, and they’re dug in like a tick.
It’s possible! https://lore.kernel.org/all/[email protected]/ This was only 2 years ago.
That’s awesome. Human expression is unpredictable and dangerous and the faster we move past it the better.
