Yes, but I would still need Windows for that. I meant I could remove Windows/Mac entirely from my life except that I need access to Adobe products.

Windows is in much the same place as VMware right now. A still useful product currently controlled by people who don’t understand it and who are solely focused on making the line go up.
It really began when the injunction preventing them from bundling services expired between Windows 7 & 8.
If Adobe would put its products on Linux I wouldn’t need Windows (or Mac) anymore. Unfortunately a lot of my work still requires being able to open things in Indesign and XD.

Epic originally sued Apple because they couldn’t sell access to Fortnight outside of the App Store.
My main point was that Sony shouldn’t get special treatment.

It wouldn’t make sense to say that only Apple has dominion over the devices it makes and no other manufacturers operate the same.
I didn’t really start hating it until not doing it for 13 hours a day meant losing my job because, and I quote, “we can have meetings all day because you have all night to finish your work”.

I have a degree and 15 years experience in web development. The last 6 have seen me move up a bit to doing more full stack and team lead things. I specialize in front-end UI/UX and API middleware.
I’ve been looking for 8 months… I’ve applied for over 100 positions and had one first round interview.
There is definitely trouble in the CS job market right now. I spoke to a recruiter who had no new jobs on their desk in two months.
The first Sonic was in Oklahoma. The company was still headquartered there until being bought out by a Georgia based company just a couple years ago.
The market didn’t let this happen. Years of bad anti-monopoly practices have seen companies like Adobe buy out their competition.
As a result the amount of money it would take to simultaneously catch up to Adobe’s decades of development and compete with them at scale even with just one of their products is far outside what a lot of people are willing to invest.
The same is true for a lot of “big tech” right now. Imagine you wanted to start your own music streaming service…

I feel like somebody already tried this a few years ago. I vaguely remember there being an Atom powered C64. I wonder what their product line will be like this time.
