I came here to mention Japan’s “Asia for Asians” campaign in the early 1900s. Glad to see I’m not the only history nerd commenting on this post!

Alt-J An awesome wave - it really is considered as a whole in its creation. There are interludes, dips & swells in the energy, and a whole journey of sonically related songs which keep introducing new variations and sounds.
Sufjan Stevens the BQE - another album that really should be enjoyed as a whole journey, it follows the daily commute of so many along the Brooklyn Queens Expressway in NYC. It wanders from orchestral to electronic noise, and is a wonderful album to put on for a slow Sunday morning.
I love complicated orchestrations that aren’t too angry (My Brightest Diamond, Shugo Tokumaru, Sufjan Stevens, Bjork). Any suggestions?
We needed SOME good news from the courts after SCOTUS once again handed down more ridiculous BS.
Ooh! Looking forward to it. I hope he wrote songs about his anxiety & struggles that he’s spoken about more in interviews more recently.
Hot Tuna’s Yellow Fever would be one of my favorite covers in our collection. Though there are so many good ones…
…an appeals court ruled that CIMA, the acronym for the nonprofit that runs the park for the Peruvian government and administers the carbon credit project, had been improperly added as a co-defendant in the case. The appeals court threw out the ruling and with it the benefits ordered for the tribe, citing “the presence of insurmountable defects both in due process and in the motivation of the judicial decision."
What a ridiculous reason to throw out a ruling.
I started an all-trans punk band online, and my usual music is singer-songriter. The new project really pushed me, and turns music making into a social activity! I also started another solo project that is 100% cello covers of contemporary songs (last one I did was “girls just wanna have fun”). Both of these projects push me out of my usual, and breathe some fresh air into my music. Maybe you could find some ideas that pushes you out of your comfort zone?
