  • All the advice in the other comments is great. Advocate for yourself and don’t give up. Find people who can support you.

As someone that has struggled with mysterious issues as well, I just wanted to say that you’re not exaggerating or over reacting and you’re not alone. You’re doing your best to find help but the system is not working the way it should. Your family is supposed to support you. Your doctors are supposed to work to find a good diagnosis and relieve your symptoms. If they aren’t doing that you will need to do even more work yourself, which sucks. Push them when you can, and if they still aren’t responsive find a different doctor. I know it’s hard, and exhausting, and expensive. But you have your whole life ahead of you, it’s 100% worth it to get this figured out now.

  • True, but we live in a society. Nothing, especially not those 100 companies, exists in a vacuum. We buy their products and services, we work there, we elect politicians that they fund.

I’m definitely not trying to defend them, they are absolutely failing to respond to this problem. But reducing it to “we don’t play any part in this, it’s just these top companies”, is an oversimplification of a very important and very complicated problem.

One person eating less meat doesn’t matter, but a lot of people eating less meat does matter. CNN has the platform to reach a lot of people, so it is helpful for them to use that platform in this way. Yes, there are other things we should do too. But, I think to solve this issue we need to use every tool we have available, including individual changes AND regulatory changes.

I know this is just a funny meme, sorry for getting up on my soapbox. I’ve just seen this posted a lot and have always been too afraid of the reddit backlash to post my thoughts on it.

  • I never considered that the model of phone would affect the coverage, that shows how much I know! Definitely something to consider, I drive through low coverage areas a lot and do not want to get stranded with no way to communicate.

And good point with the upgradeable vs repairable. It would be so cool if it was upgradeable! Making every new part backwards compatible would be a huge pain for the designers though. But like you said the battery is the real problem with most phones. I’d be very happy with a more standard phone that just had a replaceable battery!

Have you ever had an issue that you had to get support for? Whether it’s asking fairphone for help or just searching online for answers, did you have any trouble?

I am very clumsy and tend to drop my phone a lot. I worry that the disassemble-able design could make the phone less drop resistant, have you experienced that? (Or maybe you just have basic levels of hand-eye coordination and are able to hold on to a phone without issues lol)
