I should look into where I can get hold of CBD products. We don’t really have dispensaries and stuff around here. It’s legal to have but not to actually buy anywhere (or sell) lol. I think it is approved for medicinal use though.

Although you can get a grade of weed here that’s basically a step away from being a hemp plant. As far as I know, that can of stuff is heavier on the CBD ratio of things. Doesn’t taste great though.

I buy R50 bags, which is around the price of a pack of legal cigarettes with some change left over. Although I think it’s hard to compare prices of things across borders and currencies.

And this R50 bags are basically the lowest rung of the decent quality. And it’s outdoor, so sometimes the quality is pretty close to indoor, sometimes it’s not so great. And if the quality is good, it’ll be a strict 5 grams but if it’s standard stuff, the guy usually packs a little extra.

So it’s also a bit difficult to give it a per day cost. A R50 bag can last me 1 to 3 days depending on a few factors.

Just want to add, I’m also my weed guy’s movie and series guy. So I’m often getting free bags thrown in, in exchange for some movies and shit loaded onto USBs.

I can believe that having kids changes things. And yeah, I’d like to cut down as well. If for nothing else, then just my wallet lol.

Lol I guess it is. And I’m absolutely addicted to weed. Anyone who says that isn’t addictive hasn’t experienced the lack of appetite, insomnia and general lack of will to live when you’re a heavy smoker and you go without.

It’s still probably cheaper therapy than actual therapists and pharmaceuticals though.

Dune and Dune Part 2

Something I need to add to my list and finally watch. Funny enough, I never read the books either, even though back when I was still reading a lot more (mostly sci-fi), it was regularly praised and recommended.

Currently busy with my fifth (I think, I’ve actually lost track now) watch of everything in the Ghost in the Shell franchise (excluding the live action movie). Usually I end with my favourite, Stand Alone Complex, but this time I started with it. Currently about half way through 2nd Gig, once I’ve watched Solid State Society, I’m going to follow it up with my second ever watch of SAC 2045, hoping that I like it more the second time.

I made a post the other day expressing disappointment with these movies vs. how Sonic is portrayed in the games and other adaptations. But I have to say, one thing I’m looking forward to them getting absolutely wrong in Sonic 4 is Amy Rose. The way I see it, the only way to do Amy Rose right is to go against the source material because Sega doesn’t give a flying fuck about Amy Rose and they’ve flip flopped so much on if she should be a hero or just a follower stalker.

The three Roses were probably the best part of Sonic Prime. So I’m looking forward to an actual badass version of her on the big screen.

I’m late here but felt like sharing my goblin tendencies too. I’ve actually got a lot of random shit that I collect and keep in a box, thought I would take a couple of my favourites out. Sorry for potato quality picture, I have a potato quality phone.

• A plasticky spiked collar that a stripper I used to party with and had a huge crush on took off from her neck on put on mine one night. And no, I’m not the strip club type and never even watched her work, her and her colleagues and friends used to frequent the metal/alternative club that I haunted. 15 to 20 years ago. Actually I’m not that old yet, more like 10 to 15 years ago.
• A card with a witch that I found lying on the ground probably also around 15 years ago. Says “creative child games” on the back.
• A completely washed away and blank puzzle piece that I also picked up off the ground somewhere.
• A round rock with the word “Safety” written on it that was randomly handed to me by a hippie girl at a music festival years ago.
• A very poorly cut black tourmaline (or so I was told) that I bought at a flea market for way too much money while tripping balls on ecstacy. That was while I was still in my hippie phase so very close to 20 years ago.
• Lucky beans! I’ve just always loved them since I was a kid and have bunch floating around. I’ve even put some in the linings of one of my jackets.

I’ve actually been a boring hermit for at least the last 10 years, so I’m running out of trinkets with cool stories attached to them though.

LineageOS 20 on the Nokia 4.2. The only option for this phone besides LineageOS 19 and it’s one of these cases where the dev just stopped updating anything and deleted their XDA profile. Might go back to vanilla but the problem is that’s a downgrade in Android version too.

This whole phone is a regret. My previous phone had just died unexpectedly and it was a spur of the moment purchase with a low budget, based on nostalgia for a ‘Nokia’ that doesn’t actually exist anymore. Should’ve just gone for a cheap Samsung and I probably would’ve at least had more choice in custom firmwares.

Yup, especially when we’re all being bombarded by the same propaganda in the places that we meet online and spend a considerable amount of time in, we’re all in this together. I’ve seen the discourse about the USA and the culture wars over the last decade in my own country. And from what I’ve gathered through my years of lurking is that shit is darkening the skies and affecting everyone from the UK to Sweden to Australia.

And as far as I can tell, all of our governments have been mostly happy to sit back and watch everything slide into enshittification and misinformation and ruin. Like they all thought the fight was won and the job was done and they could just spend the rest of their lives collecting bloated paychecks and sleeping in parliament. Even Australia’s recent effort to curb social media for children is too little too late I fear.

I’m too new here to be making these kinds of assumptions but whenever I see someone complaining about Ada and team, I’m thinking these might be ‘free speech’ people that want the right to enter every club without paying the admission, adhering to the dress code and full reign to insult the regulars, staff and owner. Real life doesn’t work that way so why should social media?

So far I’m more than happy and impressed with the Blåhaj instance. And even if I move to another instance or mbin or something, I’m still happy to respect the Blåhaj way when I’m in that house.

This federation thing gives me a different outlook on this kind of thing compared to Reddit. When you say “admin” here, you’re not talking about some rich incel, you’re talking about people putting their time and effort into providing spaces for people to gather and form communities. Probably for little reward.

Yeah that’s been one of the funniest parts to watch. It’s been moderators versus admins but not users versus admins. Personally I think it’s a pretty simple concept that the instance rules come first, then the community rules. I’m not surprised by anything I’m seeing or hearing on the admin side because I think it’s pretty clear what to expect when you enter the place and read the sidebar.

Yeah this was kind of a similar story with Reddit at one point too. When I first looked into Reddit, it was because I had seen it included with the ‘share’ buttons on various websites and wanted to see what it was. I don’t think it was as small as Lemmy when I joined but it was definitely never on the same plateau as Facebook and Twitter.

Well, I can now say that I’ve been around to witness my first big users versus moderators versus admins battle royale on Lemmy. And within my first week here! It’s been fairly entertaining and also feels like I should have an achievement badge on my profile now. Just need the next achievement of being a participant in one of these matches.

Kiki’s Delivery Service (could’ve been a little more than a week ago), When Marnie was There, The Tale of Princess Kaguya and currently about half way through Nausicaä of the Valley of Wind because I saw someone else here on Lemmy mention it. And I might throw in Pom Poko. I’ve watched all of the Ghibli movies before but the mood to rewatch a few took me.
