Not my kids, but my wife is American and I lived there for 10 years before moving our family back here in 2015. I thought all my in-laws were decent people, but found out that they all voted for trump last November, and I have to say it’s got me feeling very conflicted. I doubt I’d be able to maintain a relationship with any of them if I were still there, knowing what they chose to support.

It’s still infuriating that there are people who think “Labor isn’t putting out the fire fast enough, so let’s vote for the petrol party”.

Me either. 9 years ago I moved my family here from the US (I’m Aussie born), and I’ve been dirt poor ever since. But I don’t even know where the hell else we’d go.

It’s pretty horrifying, makes me worry that the average Australian is exactly the kind of person I suspected.

The United states can’t be trusted as a trading partner anymore. trump doesn’t even honour his own deals.

I believe it’s all coming down. Don’t want it, not looking forward to it, but I think our society is definitely in decline.

The US is a failed state. We’re going to have to learn to live without it sooner or later. The only reason it has so much influence is because we all made it the centre of the global economy. That’s what needs to change.

Yep. We’re deep into the game of monopoly now. Someone’s put hotels on those expensive properties and now it’s just a matter of time until they have all the money or we just decide we don’t want to play anymore. They’re the only possible outcomes.

Well I’ve got my everything crossed that Aussies turn out to be a bit smarter than Americans, as a whole. I’m not super optimistic, but we have a lot more to lose than Americans did. Our government still kinda works for the majority in some aspects.
