Yeah I haven’t tried the mods either and I kinda suck at the game but I’ve always felt like it has a low cost to entry, which is why it feels chill to me. A lot of death anxiety in games is due to time investment and, frankly, like BOTW, fear of long loading screens more than any in game punishment.
Ftl has such a satisfying and similar gameplay loop and allows so much pausing that it doesn’t really feel stressful for me. I still hate dying and do it a lot in the game, but I can play ftl with a sort of soft mental focus that many other games don’t allow me to do
FTL, Stardew valley, No mans sky, Minecraft, Old rpgs like Chrono Trigger
You only THINK we don’t know
Now I want a fiber optic keyboard cleaning brush
I’m a dog person, but I agree, for the most part. Nobody should have to put up with wild, untrained animals in public places. That’s kind of the point of civilization- taming and controlling nature. Untamed dogs do not belong.
That said, I think properly trained dogs are less offensive than most people. I do my best to train my dog, and I actually think she still has a long way to go. (She is very obedient, but being young, has a very short attention span and requires repeat commands to stay focused.)
The average training level of dogs these days is simply atrocious. I went out for a walk on a trail that allowed off leash dogs, and several people told me how shocked they were that my dog always came and stayed by my side when I commanded her to “heel” -frankly, this is disturbing. I consider a reliable recall the BARE MINIMUM for a dog.
“Good” dogs are usually the most predictable, reliable things in their environment
My sister has a young German Shepard and he is the laziest, sweetest dog ever. All he wants in life is to lay in the sun and chill. He can’t be bothered to get up, much less jump on people
Depends on the dog. They have different personalities just like people. Currently one of my roommates has a yappy, untrained little terrier that never shuts up if he isn’t given attention 24/7. The other girl I live with has a blind doxen that is like a quiet, cute little roomba- he just wanders around silently and bumps into walls. I have a firm belief that NO ONE likes untrained dogs, and it is animal abuse not to train your dog well
I think that’s the real problem, they often shove tragic, supposedly heavy backstories on us with no time devoted to actually developing it and giving them weight- we are TOLD to care, instead of given actual reason to. If the movie can’t invest in their backstory, why should I?
I haven’t done formal research on the topic, but as far as I can see this is correct- alcohol just lowers your inhibitions and makes you more suggestable, therefore easier to influence by your enviroment- you’re way more likely to be depressed and sipping whiskey slowly by yourself than partying with Coronas with lime.
It would be interesting to look at regional ideas of what different alcohols are appropriate for and see if the “effects” change with it
Oh so animal farm was literal?
Wait you can’t transfer images directly to external harddrives?? Honestly I genuinely wonder why people put up with this shit
We aren’t. That’s what we said- the value proposition isn’t there
On the contrary, being snarky isn’t a waste of time at all
Maybe the question should be why the service was only just worth it at 75% down then
It looks right to me, that’s about the size of my third leg
The green text peer pressure means nothing to me, but you are 100% spot on about the ecosystem driving sales. My whole family uses apple and I get left out of so many group chats and face times that I’ve actually considered switching to Apple even though I’m a die hard Note fan. Apples hardware may be nothing special, but they have a killer feature in their seamless, closed ecosystem, and they know it. At the end of the day, a phones job is to communicate, and Apple does that seemlessly- with other Apple devices
I’m an advocate of safe injection sites, so I will agree somewhat here. Safe injection sites work because they identify addicts and aggressively supply them with resources to counteract the need for the addiction in the first place, all while encouraging less and less use. This is an approach that could have merit for pedophiles, but there are some issues that pop up with it as well that are unique- to consume a drug, the drug must enter the body somehow, where it is metabolized.
CSAM on the other hand, is taken in simply by looking at it. There is no “gloves on” approach to generating or handing the content without absorbing it- the best that can be hoped for is have it generated by someone completely ‘immune’ to it, which raises questions about how “sexy” they could make the content- if it doesn’t “scratch the itch” the addicts will simply turn back to the real stuff.
There is a slim argument to be made that you could actually create MORE pedophiles through classical conditioning by exposing nonpedophilic people to erotic content paired with what looks like children. You could of course have it produced and handled by recovering/in treatment pedophiles, but that sounds like it defeats the point of limited access entirely and is therefore still bad, at least to the ones in charge of distribution.
Additionally, digital content isn’t destroyed upon consumption like a drug, and you have a more minor but still real problem of content diversion, where content made for the program is spread to those not getting the help that was meant to be paired with it. This is an issue, of course, but could be rationalized as worth it so long as at least some pedophiles were being treated.
Except there is a good bit of evidence to show that consuming porn is actively changing how we behave related to sex. By creating CSAM by AI, you create the depiction of a child that is mere object for the use of sexual gratification. That fosters a lack of empathy and an ego centric, self gratifying viewpoint. I think that can be said of all porn, honestly. The more I learn about what porn does to our brains the more problematic I see it
You are assuming that they think rationally
