On friday I went to an indie film premiere and there wasn’t an empty seat to be had. It only cost 2 million to make and was one of the best movies I’ve seen in years. I also regularly visit my local community theatre where they play old gems and its always super busy. People are happy to pay for a nice night at the movies. You just need to provide good content.

The software on my Samsung is so fucked that if I physically switch HDMI connections between inputs, it puts up a screen saying “switching source” despite my new source already being visible on the screen for 3-5 seconds before the tv claims to switch it. Well if you’re just reading random CBAs without the context of being a worker within that CBA, there is a lot you’re going to miss. Unions are not something you can fully understand from the outside looking in. Generally it’s only the executives and officers within a union who have a good idea of how the whole thing works.
Lets use vacation time as an example. If you read my CBA you will find I earn 10 hours of vacation time a month, or three weeks a year. That may seem low, but my employer gives us two weeks paid off when the business shuts down for Christmas. So 40% of my vacation time is not mentioned in the CBA. My employer is also generous with sick days and none of that is part of the CBA, so you can add another week and a half of time off a year. So my CBA says I’m entitled to three weeks off a year but really I end up getting six and a half.
No one outside your union can tell you specifically how or why they bargained a certain way. You should get involved more with your union and ask them these questions instead of posting here. Every union is different and they’re obligated to explain these things to any member who asks. If any of it discourages you, then it is up to you to educate other members on why you think that’s wrong and help get them organized for the next round of bargaining. A union is only as good as its active members.
If your Canadian union isn’t working for you and the above doesn’t help, then you file a DFR report with the labour board. Even mentioning DFR (duty of fair representation) should get you service if the union is being adversarial.

If you enjoy turn based rpgs, you really should give them a try. Infinite Wealth is especially good and you don’t need to have played previous games to enjoy it. Not only do they do an amazing job of being funny or dramatic in all the right places, but there is such a wealth of content that you’ll regularly get lost in side quests and minigames on your way to completing story tasks.

Without Oldboy on the list at all, I can’t take the site or the author seriously. None of those movies even come close to the horrifying revenge of Oldboy. It evokes a special kind of darkness that stays with you long after viewing.
To those in this thread who may not have seen it yet, make sure you watch the original Korean movie. The makers of the American version didn’t have the balls to get the story right.

Not only do they look pretty, they sing pretty too. I did a lot of tree planting in my twenties and these beauties would sometimes appear to hang out and sing with me while I worked.
I appreciate the reasoned response. Maybe by the end of the game the pay items don’t feel limited, but they did in the first 20 hours I played before returning it.
If I was disappointed solely at the sales compared to my dislike then you’re right to think its nonsense. What I’m disappointed in is a business I have loyally and regularly purchased from for over 30 years compromising their product and making it worse to try and fleece more money. I also worry deeply that the game selling well despite the flak means every major developer will find their own way to follow suit and refine the tactic until it becomes the norm.

It absolutely is. Wakestones are limited without microtransactions and there are plenty of poorly explained quests where one could easily kill something they shouldn’t. It happened to me. I even saved right before to try and be safe only for the game to autosave over the second the npc attacked me. The only save you have full control over is your second save tied to the inns, which are expensive and inferior to camping due to the buffs camping provides.
This is really disappointing. The game does give off GOTY vibes until you realize big issues like only having one save file you can fully control, intentially vague dialogue for key quest details, and bad AI. All of which just happens to encourage mistakes that can only be fixed using items which are very limited without microtransactions. Its like an MBA took over in the final phase of development and made it a sleazy moneygrab. The fact that it is a hit means we can expect more developers to adopt this tactic and take it further. Capcom has become EA.
Thankfully I was able to get a refund on Dragons Dogma and used that money to buy Rise of the Ronin. Was not disappointed. They are very similar games but Rise of the Ronin has all the QoL features gamers have come to expect like unlimitted fast travel and saves.
