Tell me that you have never ever spent a year’s salary for such a present made out of crystal & metal, without telling me that… :-)

These jerks at the top are smart enough to not use their nukes…
Polemik von der gar nicht mal so guten Sorte
Read some of the old “Miss Marple” Stories, then some “Hercule Poirot” Stories.
On reddit, it was frowned upon to create a new acc after getting banned - and still it was frequently needed to do so, because of some mod gone wild.
The same jerks who have been mods on reddit are now becoming the mods on lemmy. And they still get unlimited power, and still nobody is reviewing their actions.
Now, please explain: why would anybody share such stories of getting banned?
Aber warum wir mehr arbeiten müssen steht da nicht,
Das ist ja auch genau die Frage, die er sich nicht stellen lassen möchte. Vor allem nicht von jungen Leuten aus der Generation-Z :-)
I was wrong
So, what does it tell you?
You’re factually wrong on that aspect.
Because of 450 cases in some foreign country? Don’t be ridiculous.
This is the scenario I’m asking about.
Nobody knew your scenario before you explained it in detail. It is simply not happening.
Organisations don’t want to be bothered with such restrictions from a donor. Their principles are: fair and anonymous. It is hard enough already this way.
Yes to Life: In Spite of Everything (Viktor E. Frankl)
I am able to think straight.
(most of the times, at least)
That’s not the question here.
The 2 problems here are
that F*book scrapes this user’s personal data from other random places (very illegal)
and that they change the FB profile without asking the user specifically (should be illegal, but maybe they find an excuse in their terms & conditions)
Being forced to read generated content?
Nobody deserves that. Not even criminals.
We should write it down into the list of basic human rights: the RIGHT to freely decide if i want to read/hear/view any generated content.
You should be proud of that
Even commercial ‘social’ media need anonymity.
It us not just petty or counterproductive. It is violating the basic principle of democracy itself.
Sorry for the downtime and we will try to communicate the problem better in the future.
You did the right thing, going down immediately.
The solution for the announcement problem is to do it “out of band”, as the communications engineers call it. That is: use a different medium. May be a webpage or even twitter or whatever. Ideally let everybody know your method in advance (make an announcement policy :-)) so the users know where to look for the info.
looked into ZFS but if I use that it halves the available disk space to 2TB.
Look harder :-)
ZFS can do it either way.
Sometimes it feels as if the author was a bot, with the intention to push opinions or agendas.
Naja, wenn man C64 heißt, dann liegt win offensichtlich in der future, oder? :-)
