Yes, that’s true and a bad or undersized power supply also but in my experience it is much more likely to have a bad disk than to have something else fail
I would check the kernel messages (sudo dmesg) and check for errors on the ata bus. If there are it’s most likely the disk that is failling

I nearly came in my pants when I saw it
I love cycling too and during the lockdowns of the pandemics I discovered that pedaling isn’t what I love about cycling, I just got so bored of pedaling on the roller I just couldn’t force myself doing it more than twice. Now when I get on my bike and ride for many kilometers I really enjoy it.
I tried a couple other apps for Reddit, including the official one, but never felt them quite as comfortable as rif. I also miss some of my go to subreddits but enjoying a bit of a detox
