These guys aren’t doing jack shit, and their history shows nothing to the contrary. The mod of the community is just trolling people. Their instance should ban them.

There was a user in that comment thread banned for promoting violence, but the main post and poster haven’t been for the same reason, despite the post itself also promoting violence.

This lack of consistency concerning violence against nazis is literally the second major reason I left Reddit in addition to them killing 3rd party apps. Some site admins were basically using posts promoting violence against Nazis to ban anyone who agreed with the post.

There’s really only two types of people who get mad at mods:

• The people who break the rules then get mad that they suffered the consequences

• The people who see mods using the position just to have the smallest modicum of power over others and just reflexively swing the ban hammer without looking at context, seeing if there is a pattern, giving warnings, or anything else. They just remove and block what they, personally, do not like.

There’s a boatload of both here, just as there was on Reddit. The differences are that it’s smaller here, so you actually see the people complaining about the mods and the modlog is public so you can always see if the mod’s actions were reasonable.

If I actually have faith in the developer, plan on getting the game at launch, and it has some extra in-game goodies, I might pre-order it.

I pre-ordered Elden Ring and SOTE. I won’t pre-order Nightreign because I’m not sure if it will be something I like, as it doesn’t even sound like an official Fromsoft game; it sounds like a mod made by a teenager.

That’s the only way I’ve ever heard it pronounced in actual speech. Of course, the only times I have heard people talking about it IRL is in CS classes and the like. I don’t know many tech nerds IRL to have conversations about computer standards with.

I’d argue that a community named Rule 1 should also include non tanky instance mod/admin actions when they are egregiously bad.

I’m surprised it is only temporary. Looking at the mod log, getting a temp ban or a warning are the rarest forms of mod actions taken across all of Lemmy.

This meme fills me with a sense of pride and accomplishment.
