  • Why do you think this?

Many of these athletes don’t even agree with the war and many are public about this disagreement.

Even the Olympics allows these athletes to perform under a none disclosed flag.

Why should Russian and Belarusian athletes be punished individually for the actions of their countries government?

I’ll point you to Wimbledon this year where Belarusian Victoria Azarenka was unfairly boo’d off court after her loss with Ukrainian Elina Svitolina. Azarenka has been openly against the war since it started. Why should she be punished?

  • The public transport argument is just not feasible for most people though.

I live in a suburb of a city in the UK. For me to get to work I need to take two busses and a train which equates to around 2.5 hours of travel each way without delays. Alternatively I can drive to work in less than 40 minutes.

Public transport is only the future ifit becomes a realistic and reliable alternative. At the moment, that is simply not the case for the majority of people. And in my city the public transport has arguably gotten worse in the last decade.

Ofcourse this is location dependent. When I lived in London you couldn’t have paid me to drive a car as the public transport was far easier to use.

Bring on the downvotes for speaking the truth

  • Comparing yourself to others people’s accomplishments is never going to end well. It’s completely natural for us to do, but if it’s not done to achieve inspiration, then it’s almost always a negative thought process.

At the end of the day the people you describe are no better than you, their accomplishments don’t make them better people. Their accomplishments only have value if you chose to give them that, and in the same token value can be given to things in your life that you might not necessarily deem worthy enough it be an ‘accomplishment’.
