Asymmetric bezels low key bug me. Are there technical reasons why they’re hard?
I’m assuming you mean top vs bottom vs sides? Top is bigger because it has the camera and sensors. Everyone would complain about bezels (and did) of the sides were smaller for zero reason other than being the same size all around.
You mean liake top and bottom bezels being different sizes?
Its due to tons of reasons but usually its driven by what is in the phone and where it is placed.
Both. Side bezels. Top and bottom. I’d just like consistency and symmetry.
My daily driver is a Pixel 4XL. It has a lot of stuff crammed into the forehead. But with notches and holepunches that doesn’t seem like it should be necessary anymore.
It isn’t necessary any more, which is why all Pixels since the 4a have had small bezels all the way around. You literally got the last Pixel with a thick forehead.
As to why they’re not all perfectly symmetrical on all phones… I’ve seen a few answers:
- Cost; it’s expensive to shrink the bezel that the display connector is under
- Design style
- Shrinking all as much as possible, which typically leads to the side bezels being thinner than the top and bottom
I think you just got to wait bud. Technology isn’t quite there yet. A lot of companies have tried and there’s advancements in that. Speakers hidden under screens cameras hidden under screens. With very thin bezels all the way around and just a screen almost. But the technology is just not quite there yet in my opinion. There are options though out there currently if thats what you want.
Also your pixel is kinda the last most infamous big bezels pixel. I dont know if you’ve looked at the updates but they are definitely way less offensive with the bezels. I have a 5a and i almost never notice the hole punch anymore and the bezels are very consistent all around.
I’ve got a Galaxy J7, which is symmetrical, but a bit old now. They’ve been trending to reduce the bezel, and some spots just need it more than others.
