As a software developmer i actually prefer the gnome environment since I feel it is designed with gestures and keyboard shortcuts as a first citizen in mind. In my day to day work I barely use my mouse.

Vanilla Gnome Shell is unusable as a PC desktop environment.

Edit: LOL I just realized what community I commented this in. Oops! Hahahaha Oh man. No wonder I’m getting all these downvotes.

    I’m sorry y’all.

Gnome does has it’s strenghts though. I love that it’s simple and doesn’t have a bajillion customizeable configurations like KDE does. You get to focus on your work instead of messing around trying to get things right. But, as far as their desktop paradigm goes, I really can’t work with it. And maybe it explains why so many distributions have modified Gnome desktops with so many extensions. Heck, even Ubuntu customized it. I think Zorin did the best job however. It’s how I would have wanted Gnome to be like.

Not what the article is about. This is just saying that Ubuntu is changing up how they handle the Yaru theme so they stay better in sync with Adwaita changes.

I truly respect your courage to post this in the Gnome community - that is a brave take indeed :D

Their UI choices continue to puzzle me to this day. Gnome 2 truly was peak Gnome.

        LoL

It’s okay. We can agree to disagree.

It’s great as a tablet interface though.

No, it’s not subjective, so I can’t really agree to disagree. You are objectively incorrect. If you just said “it’s not for me personally” then I’d agree to disagree.

I use it just fine, so do many others. Including Linus Torvalds himself.

It’s great as a desktop interface, you’re just used to the Windows layout, and that’s fine.

Yeah you’re right. It’s more an opinion than a fact. And yes I’m more used to the Windows desktop paradigm.

It’s not “unuseable”. It’s just not my kind of desktop.
