The murderer, Yinon Levi, has long been known for his extreme violence and harassment of the Umm al Khair community. He was under sanction under the Biden administration and is still under sanctions by the EU, the UK and Canada.

Levi was released almost immediately by an Israeli “court,” and is reportedly back in the same area where he committed the murder. Meanwhile, the Israeli occupation force delayed and subsequently raided memorial services for Hathaleen to “prevent unrest.”
