🌊 Still taking it all in. Just weeks after his 99th birthday, Sir David Attenborough came to Parliament to share a specially edited version of his latest film 𝘖𝘤𝘦𝘢𝘯 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘋𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘥 𝘈𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘣𝘰𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩.
So much of what we know, feel and care about when it comes to the natural world starts with Sir David. To sit with him in person, surrounded by committed colleagues from across parties and houses, whilst watching his latest powerful film was something I’ll never forget, it was magical.
I’m so grateful to Colin butfield and Keith Scholey. Not just for making this screening happen, but for their years of friendship and creative leadership. Ocean shows the beauty of what we still have, and the damage being done, specifically from bottom trawling - happening today in so called marine protected areas in the United Kingdom. But it also shows that we still have time to act.
It meant a great deal to be joined by the Prime Minister Keir Starmer. His leadership on climate, clean energy and nature really came through. There’s a lot still to do, but moments like this give us hope.

The Planning and Infrastructure Bill very much sits in the space Attenborough was aiming at when he said “We have a finite environment—the planet. Anyone who thinks that you can have infinite growth in a finite environment is either a madman or an economist.”
The reason Attenborough et al are screening it for these politicians is because they’re doing things wrong.
