The main thing that struck me about Seattle when I first moved there was all the hills. Coming from Phoenix, where there is zero relief unless you’re on one of the sporadic mountains, navigating that kind of terrain required adjustment. My first quarter at UW, a friend took me to a rave off Pioneer Square, and we missed the last bus back to the U-District.
This being before cell phones, let alone Uber/Lyft, that was a long walk home.
I last lived in Seattle in 2000 and suspect I’d not recognize the place now. But the transit options have improved significantly.
There’s definitely a lot of options. The light rail is good, but I’ve mainly been walking to places and getting lots of steps in.
