I did too, but I am not entirely confident that 1) they actually deleted my data and 2) that it has not already been used for training.

Well I deleted my account before LLM’s were even a thing so as long as they deleted my data it should be fine. If they didn’t delete the data that’d be a yikes but that information should be leaked eventually and will cause quite the issue with the EU.

We can only do so much and hope the actions have the impact we intend.

It should be another wake up call for everyone using those social media plattforms by Meta. Imagine your a small artist on Instagram and they use your art to train their model. Everyone could possible create pictures with your style using the AI. Furthermore do they possible have to save everything you post (pictures, videos and texts) and they also make money with sharing your data to third person companies. Pretty scary in my opinion.

I feel the fediverse Instagram alternatives are furthest from mainstream adoption, so I hope those artists will drive a new group of refugees ‘our’ way.

In my opinion could artists or creators post on fediverse platforms and mainstream platforms at the same time. It makes sense that if a big creator switches to Pixelfed and leaves Instagram that he/she would have way less followers but if he/she would post on both, people could decide for themself.
