    There’s probably a meme that someone could make showing an Internet user who is fed up with every site asking them if they want to install an app, but then also not liking that a website isn’t trying to get you to install an app. It’s server-side rendering baby! It’s the latest old-new-old thing! (technology is cyclical, as everyone knows).

      It’s a cycle for sure. At work people are talking about micro services again. It’s like the third time.

        The issue is engineering to hype. Just use microservices or monoliths where they make sense. Same goes for cloud and onprem/etc, nixos or ansible or terraform or whatever.

        Mixing modes always sucks, but not as badly as kludging a terrible architecture onto something that doesn’t suit it.
