I think you’re right, I found a list of the 25 most common spiders in Wisconsin, and number 21 is the European Garden Spider. I never knew what they were called before! We have supposedly a lot of variety in our spiders, but I swear 80 out of 100 times, when I see a huge web it’s always a European Garden Spider I see. When I was a kid my Mom in spring would buy hanging potted flowers to hang in our backyard from our deck, and I swear to deity, ever one of those pots came pre-installed with a few of those European Garden Spiders!
These are damn common in my area in North Eastern Wisconsin, especially this time of the year!
First time I’ve seen one! I think it’s a European garden spider?
