Microsoft “innovating”:
Meanwhile, KDE Connect be like:

Some more KDE Connect goodness: during your presentations, use KDE Connect to move through your slides.
Or put your finger on the “Pointer”, point your phone at the screen and a flaming circular pointer will appear. Higlight what you need by moving your phone.
@[email protected] @[email protected] I 'member when Microsoft wanted to take Ubuntu to court about Convergence, a thing that was just a twinkle in MS’s eye but already working on Ubuntu phones.
@[email protected] @[email protected] Not a KDE user, but I can confess that #GSConnect works perfectly on @gnome! With KDE Connect on my Android phone of course. 😉
P.S. Don’t forget to open some ports on your PC:
sudo ufw allow 1714:1764/udp
sudo ufw allow 1714:1764/tcp
sudo ufw reloadI want it to work with libp2p. Imagine controlling your machine from anywhere securely.
@[email protected] @[email protected] I am really lucky to view and reply to my SMS from my Android phone using KDE Connect and also to control the media with it.
My only issue comes with basic MTP support - for for reliable file transfer I need to use tools like “Android_File_Transfer” or run a Windows WM where I could work with my phone similarly to a flash drive. That is quite sad - not sure what is the reason for that poor implementation of MTP in linux…
Use KDE Connect:
On your phone, go into wher you keep your files (say, your photo gallery). Select the ones you want to transfer (1). Tap the share button (2), and the devices paired with your phone will show up (3). Tap the computer you want to send your files to and they will show up in the “Downloads” directory of that machine a few seconds later (depending on their size, of course).
It works both ways, also from laptop to phone, and even between phones and computers.
@[email protected] @[email protected] Thanks, I am aware of the sharing option of KDE Connect. Works fine for me. But native MTP implementation for Dolphin would be great - I remember it used to work sometimes and for some phones but no more now… Would be useful for organizing files / folders and copying between computer and phone.
@[email protected] @[email protected] Wait, does KDE Connect allow you to share files with your iPhone now? Is it on the App Store?
@tertle950 @[email protected] @[email protected] you can. I found it a bit unreliable sometimes because iOS does iOS stuff behind the scenes. The Android client is solid on my devices.
I swap between #localsend and #kdeconnect . Most of the time I don’t need all the extras bundled with KDE Connect.
@[email protected] @tertle950 @[email protected] Wow, I didn’t know that GPL-licensed software can be uploded to Apple’s AppStore and developers can use it.
