by David Redmond Reddit is a platform used by millions to connect with like-minded people each day. In recent weeks though there’s been controversy on the platform, resulting in a massive protest where many subreddits went dark. One of the subs protesting was r/Blind which went offline for the first time in its ten-year history
“Reddit’s blind community went dark for the first time in its history.”
I mean… never mind let me stop.
As soon as I read it I thought, “please don’t let me be the only person who has a sick mind and is willing to comment it”
aw dang you’re going to heck
Came here looking for this comment. Whoever came up with the title should be promoted.
Could of mentioned that r/blind moderators are working on Lemmy instance.
It’s too bad they decided to memorialize the name “r/blind” containing the “r” in their domain, but I can understand why.
There were good things about Reddit as well as bad. I see nothing wrong with remembering it as the site that it was rather than the site that it became in the end.
Don’t be sad it’s over, be happy it happened at all.
Some people feel the rain, others just get wet.
true. 😔
It’s sort of surprised they were able to get the Rblind.com domain.
No way they would’ve been able to get blind.com. So domain wise it makes sense.
Indeed. You would have expected it to have been occupied by a domain squatter or something.
They also have ourblind.com which currently only points to their Discord. They are planning to use that as landing page to their Reddit, Lemmy and Discord communities.
For context, NCBI is the National Council for the Blind of Ireland. It’s an NGO.
