In this tutorial we’re going to cover how to buy Monero, for cash by mail on the Haveno Decentralised Exchange. This was the most popular payment method back on LocalMonero, due to being an improvement over bank transfers (like SEPA in the EU) when it comes to trading larger volumes in the long run, as Cash cannot easily be traced by adversaries unlike bank transfers, making Cash by Mail one of the most private ways to exchange real world money for Monero.

Let me know if there’s anything i missed in that tutorial :)

not good that a security deposit is required. this means you can’t start with zero XMR. it was possible to purchase XMR on localmonero without already having any.

Would be cool to have a first trade protocol. buyer, seller, funder. Funder provides his address for return of the deposit, buyer provides his and pays using payment method, when success of fiat payed by seller and all 3 agree and payments sent to addresses provided. Force to be small trade in order to boostrap the next trade.

Interesting idea with a funder. It doesn’t have to be a forced small trade with no incentive for funders though. Funders could be compensated a % of those initial trades to onboard people. With the funding being paid by the buyer as an additional cost for having no real bond or skin in the game yet.

can’t there just be an option to do smaller trades with no deposit if anyone is willing to accept the risk
