An Indiana mom of two collapsed and died from water toxicity after drinking too much water in a short period of time, her family says.
This is obviously tragic, but I’m surprising how little she needed to consume. Perhaps it was related to her particular health situation. Speculation here, but perhaps the symptoms she interpreted as dehydration were actually early signs of water toxicity. She was already on the border when she drank the 2 liters.
Reminds me of Jennifer Strange and the ill-considered “hold your wee for a Wii” contest.
I feel bad for the brother. It sounds like he’s equally in disbelief of “you drank how much water in 20 minutes?” as he is that she died from it. :(
I have chugged half a gallon of water at one time before. That sounds like a very, very low amount of water to drink to get water toxicity. I suspect there were some other underlying health issues, or some extreme situation, half a gallon in 20 minutes is not a lot of water when you’re thirsty.
DHMO claims another victim. Just say no to DHMO!
