The delivery driver was working at that time, why wasn’t the receptionist!?
edit: Thanks to everyone who’s pointed out that this is a scam - and who gave advice/or worried about me. I was half asleep this morning, it didn’t click (though I did notice that the url wasn’t evri - I’m too used to vendors passing me over to third party websites). It doesn’t help that the evri helpline is robots only. No bank details lost though.
Better question, what kind of a scam company charges for redelivery?
Hermes… Oh wait, they rebranded as Evri because of bad reputation.
It’s somewhat beside the point that the recipient has no contract with Evri to deliver, that’s all on the sender; what should happen is the recipient just ignores the redelivery charge notice and tells the sender that it hasn’t been delivered… Let the two parties to the contract sort it out.
Its a good point [edit: this is what I’ll do]. Of course, there’s a chance that I actually want the thing that I bought. I’d like to be clear that there are much greater injustices, but it is a boring dystopia…
Ive been on the reciving end of this, I got in touch with the seller asked them to show me where in writing they informed me that additional charges would apply if they couldnt deliver the first time. They told me that it was my problem, I told them that I hadnt recieved the delivery yet so the credit card chargeback would be entirely their problem. Problem went away.
Some courier companies do much cheaper shipping but charge redelivery fees because they dont want to have to pay the post office to be a collection point or maintain brick and mortar premesis.
Its fine when you’re expecting it and deliveries happen during business hours but its a rude shock when you buy something and the seller doesnt warn you.
Edit: https://www.tnt.com/express/en_au/site/how-to/understand-surcharges/domestic-shipment-fees.html#
Check about 2/3 of the way down. TNT charge redelivery fees because TNT dont take parcels to the post office when you arent home, thats also the reason they charge a residential surcharge.
Ive been doing post and parcel logistics for 13 years now.
Over here, DPD is the outfit that seems to underbid everyone, maintains their own collection points and then delivers with the worst service humanly possible.
They also use a ton of subcontractors that are outright thieves.
And when they get caught stealing, all DPD does is assign them a different route and they’ll only breach their contract if they actually go to jail for the theft, not for the theft itself, but because they can’t work.
And when they are assigned a different route, there’s a good chance they fill in for their old routes within the month and are right back at your doorstep, not actually delivering your packages again.
Computer store near me caught one driver 4 times in a span of 2 months, the thefts totaled well into the 20K (shitload of GPUs, iPads and other tablets) to then have that same driver show up at his store again 3 months later AND FUCKING STEALING AGAIN.
Yeah, I wont name the organisation I’m with because I’m happily employed by them but every down chain subcontractor courier system I’ve interacted with is a fucking mess. The only ones that work are the companies that only employ owner-operators.
Nobody gives a shit what excuses they give; it’s outrageous regardless.

You’re hoping we’ll think you’re authoritative, but you’re really just confessing that you’ve lost objectivity.
The delivery attempt at 2am and still asking for a redelivery fee is the outrageous part.
I’m pointing out that there are a lot of courier companies, VERY REPUTABLE ones that dont want private business, they want business to business customers. Less overheads, smaller depots, less hassles with delivery and quite often these companies do charge redelivery fees if delivery is unsuccessful. In this case yes Id be making a phonecall and calling bullshit on a 2am attempt and tell them I wont be paying they can reattempt during business hours. But the practice is completely normal.
Ive lost objectivity because I have industry experience?
Sure thing mate, have a good one.
Check out the URL - is this not a phishing scam?
This is 100% a phishing scam
OP needs to cancel their card immediately if they put their details in
Also going to throw in, it’s definitely a dodgy URL. Evri is a common target for this kind of scam and they count on exactly what’s happened here. The small %age of people that were actually expecting a parcel by that carrier.
We tried to deliver your package but you were dead. We have imprisoned your widow and charged your children 100 currency units. This quality service announcement was brought to you by Freedom Corp™️ — we’re all family at Freedom Corp™️
Op if this was text please forward it to 7726 to report the scam.
Please freeze your card, many banks you can do this directly through your banking app.
Please notify your bank so they can help more.
Remember, if something looks off it probably is. As you said why would everi be out delivering in the middle of the night? £1.04 + VAT is £1.25 also why would they be displaying an ex-vat price? Also it’s everi their preference would be to put it in a safe place (such the wheelie bin you put out for emptying) than redeliver.
Thanks for the heads up. Yep most definitely a scam. Woke up bleary eyed today! No details put into the website, but link followed - maybe need to close that email down :/
Bro it’s a scam email
Don’t forget to tip!
parcel-postcode.com? They’re calling you “Evri Member Service” in the salutation?
My brother in Christ this is a scam email. Do not give them your credit card information.
Yeah in what world do you need to pay to get your parcel delivered ???
Simping for awful companies with awful business practices is one of the weirdest things to come out of the internet.
Who exactly is doing that?
Honestly, its not the cost of delivery. Its that the delivery driver is working at 1:43 am, and that a charge is levied for not being available at this time. Not everyone sleeps at night, but with no warning, I have to reschedule my life to be at my desk at 2am for something I bought? Even if this were delivered to a home address - ringing the doorbell at 2am is shitty.
I doubt they actually attempted the delivery at this time. I’ve had multiple evri drivers mark that they attempted delivery and no one was in when I have been there waiting for them to knock.
Trash company, trash employees.
I mean the sender already did, right?
aboringdistopia is just like US citizens complaining about their country imo
Not the US, and not complaining about the country. I agree with @theskyisfalling the driver probably just posted that they had tried to meet quotas or whatever, but the business mechanism that tries to trick you into paying a small amount is a feature not a bug. Whatever way you look at it, it’s a dark pattern that skims money. [edit:spelling is hard]
I suspect you’ve missed the point that it’s highly likely to be a scam and refused to pay, so task failed successfully I guess?
Nothing about this seems American. You high?
