Prior to the protest I had over 100 Stablediffusion subreddit links open, with guides and tips helping me to better utilize Stable Diffusion and discovering models. But now I can’t access any of the knowledge that was helping me do my work.

My interaction with Reddit was through RSS feeds only. So I was not an active community member, but I was an active lurker who regularly devoured information I learned from the communities - wherever they were located.

Thankfully Stablediffusion unlike many subreddits that went private gave me an alternative site to use which is how I discovered lemmy and kbin and a few other places which have RSS feeds. But all my former resources are seemingly gone, lost forever. With Reddit buckling down on protestors and digging his heels in and protestors buckling down, I am beginning to fear that the response is going to be that access to that information will be forever lost.

Please, at a minimum, switch the private community to restricted at a minimum, or, if that sounds unreasonable - then please, create a mirror of all the posts on stable diffusion - a flash freeze of the subreddit as it was - and direct former users to that mirror so that we can at least access the information - not just posts mods have written, but the actual treasure trove of posts that were submitted by the community, all of it, no stone unturned.

Yes, I get it Reddit pulled a dick move, and I am all for sticking it to them. But the community of Stable Diffusion is greater than any one place Reddit or otherwise, and information should never be lost forever, or held captive on a single site. I don’t care where the information is - just as long as the community can continue to thrive outside of Reddit.

Note: Forgive me if there is already a mirror of the subreddit and/or all that information is here, and I just don’t know how to find it. I don’t actively use social media and am making my first post here in response to the protests. I am so grateful there is an alternative place to the subreddit where we can continue to get updates within the Stable Diffusion community.> http://lemmy.dbzer0.com/post/31836

EDIT: they are voting to open or restrict in the Stable Diffusion Community:

Good point about new people coming in. I don’t know the mods on r/StableDiffusion but I’m confident they will do something to preserve the information eventually, there is a lot of great stuff there. We just have to wait for this to play out with the bull headed Reddit CEO to see out all the communities choose to move forward.
