Hi Mishaal. Asking this for your future review.
- How’s the vibration motor?
- How do you find the “gimmicky” Nothing cable, any quality concerns?
- General fingerprint reader experience
- Any issues with cellular reception/calls?
And these I believe you could answer before the embargo.
- Favorite feature of the Nothing OS 2.0
- How comfortable is it to use when laying in bed? Particularly when holding it above yourself and typing.
- How big of a difference does it make to use the entire glyph interface vs just the flashlight? Not just for the camera experience but like, looking for stuff under the bed etc. And how easy is it to use it like this (one toggle or digging deep in the settings)?
-
Hmm, can’t really pick one, I’m just an overall fan of how “stock Android-like” Nothing OS 2.0 is, and I mean that in the sense that Nothing has largely retained the design language of Pixel Android (Material You) and has borrowed many GMS features (like Safety Hub, Game Dashboard, etc.)
-
Coming from the Zenfone 9, it definitely strains my hand more since it’s larger and heftier.
-
Glyph lights definitely don’t replace the regular torch functionality in terms of light coverage (btw, in Nothing OS 2.0, you can now long-press the Flashlight QS tile to turn on all Glyph lights at once).
-
- The vibration motor is surprisingly good! When my alarm rings in the morning, the haptics closely match the sound of the alarm.
- I always prefer durability over looks, so a nice braided cable is what I’d personally prefer. But I don’t think there should be issues with the default cable, not that you have to use it since the phone supports PD charging. (I’ve only had the phone for 2 weeks, so it’s not like I’d have enough time to experience cable failure if that is a problem.)
- I prefer side-mounted/capacitive fingerprint readers still, and there has been the occasional time where my fingerprint wasn’t recognized, but those are just general woes of optical under-display fingerprint scanners.
- Nope!
So…do you like it?
Yes!
awesome thanks

It did not come with a case in the box.
-
I’ll have to come back to this one, as I can’t do any comparisons.
-
As someone who has used the first gen phone, what are your thoughts on the Nothing Phone 2’s design, and would you say it fits in the same vein?
I haven’t used the Phone (1), so I can’t compare the two.

Nothing Phone (2) Review - GSM Arena
thx
It’s a neat phone and I’m glad we have options… But I don’t see the hype. The gimmicks are nice but does it give anything that you don’t get with arguably better options in Samsung and Pixel?
It has nice software? I think I see where they are going but they need like another year or something.
from everything ive seen it looks fine. i just dont see it getting the market share it needs to stay afloat. if titans like HTC and others couldnt do it with much more innovative tech at the time, i dont see the little light thing to take up anything of value. at least not in the US market.
Does anyone know something about custom roms running on this phone?
From xda, seems is possible
Which is the best? ASUS Zenfone 10 or Nothing Phone (2)?
What do you want out of a phone?
An all-rounder android phone. That I can bring and will reliably work and will work long.
I have Pixel 6, and it’s a decent phone. Its battery has been inconsistent recently. Sometimes, I get 6-7 hours then some days I get 5 hours or even lower. Maybe because of the heat of the phone? Idk. Camera is great but that all there is to it. I have heating issues when gaming.
I want the Zenfone because it’s small, headphone jack, and it’s powerful.
I also want Nothing Phone, I think it will be fun to use. Enforce some screentime discipline through glyphs. I like the idea to set the phone down, not being bombarded with not so important notifications.
I don’t want anything that powerful that flagships offer, but all I need is it is efficient to use both in software or hardware.
I want to feel whenever I bring and look at my phone, I can think “I can watch some videos on that” or “Let’s game a bit more” without having to worry “I might charge it later” or “but the batter will run out”.
Sorry for my english.
I see where you are coming from. The Zenfone 10 and nothing phone 2 would be good options. But may I add this other option as well. The Sony Xperia 5 mk 5. It will have a big battery 5000 mah, headphones jack, front facing speakers, plus expandable storage. The only issue is that it cost 1k and be coming in the fall.
Damn the OS aesthetic looks nice (apart from the gigantic A13 quick toggles of course). Some very nice minor hardware changes too like the rounded edges of the back.
Still gives me no reason to buy the phone over any of the other comparable options though.
