After the success of the Resident Evil 2, 3, and 4 remakes, Capcom has confirmed plans to continue the trend, although stopped short of announcing which Resident Evil game is next in line for the remake treatment.
It’s a reasonable fear, but I feel like it has enough renown for them to be worried about a backlash like 3 got. I know it’s not the most popular, but it’s been popping up more and more in the conversation when REmakes get brought up.
Outbreak is my fear for “Yeah, let’s shit this out real quick” treatment. As much as I would love to see it get some real attention with the hardware we have now, I can’t see it getting any real work put in. Especially after the travesty that was the last MP offering.
Oh Outbreak would 100% end up bastardized at least to a degree. It’s a cash cow waiting for them to realize its milking potential, and if it ever got remade it would be done with that as the first priority and with making a good game second. That’s definitely a case for a remake that in an ideal world would be bananas but in the real world… Yeah most probably not.
With that said, I do have to admit that if the game was good enough to balance the cash-grabiness I would still dabble in it. Outbreak has never really had any games that fully compared to it in like two decades and the withdrawal is real.
