Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed off on a bill prohibiting car manufacturers from using direct-sales models.
I would like to see someone explain how restricting buying options is a good thing that lines up with “conservative ideals”?
Just answer a simple question: why should anyone believe this is anything but a blatant example of regulatory capture and legal bribery?
“Pro-business”, as long as the business exists to extract as much profit as possible from consumers.
Pro bloodsucking middlemen.
Protecting the god given right to extract as much money from the common pleb as can be wrung out of them.
Party of small government at it again! Gotta love their version of the free market.
So this literally just protects existing dealerships instead of creating more dealerships for EVs
His boy Elon won’t like this one bit.
Electric car manufacturers are specifically exempt.
So then what’s the point of this law?
To help tesla and hurt the competition a bit.
Couldn’t the car manufacturer’s set up dealerships on Seminole reservations? That’s how they got around similar restrictions in other states.
The other option was to buy out of state.
I suppose used car dealers will be unaffected.
