Maybe it’s just me, but my concern is less about the jobs and more about potentially not having real images of things you’re buying in conjunction with concerns about beauty standards. There was a big push to have more representation in models, and it was nice to see all kinds of people represented in ads. I fear this will have the opposite effect and eventually there will be no actual human likeness and just 100% AI. Photoshop is a big problem still, but at least there was an actual human somewhere in there. It seems like we’re moving towards that not being the case.

It at least looks like H&M are trying to do this responsibly, which is good to see (compensating the models etc). Hopefully this will only be used in a limited capacity - what you don’t want is all the product pages full of AI images and not really knowing if what you see is actually the real product.

Not to be combative, but imho, there’s no responsible way to do this. Is it good that they’re at least paying for the models likeness? Yea, sure, but they legally have to. Not to slippery slope this, but this is without a doubt the thing they felt they could get away with at the moment. As soon as this is normalized onto the next, worse, development. No hate to models, but I don’t care about the compensation aspect nearly as much as I care about normalizing completely fictitious advertising. Wish/AliExpress gets so much hate for this and people seem to think this will be any different. With the decline of brick and mortar retail stores, it’s possible you won’t be able to see the actual product even if you wanted to. This is not good for consumers. Also of course, once they’re able to AI full people, we’re gonna run into even more representation issues.
