A traffic camera in Dortmund, Germany, captured the moment a speeding driver dressed in a Cookie Monster costume barreled down a highway going 60 mph.
The police are now on the hunt for the Sesame Street-loving prankster, who the cops say deliberately sped past the camera, hoping it would take a picture of them wearing the outfit.
He was going down the highway at 60 mph? There’s highways in Germany where the speed limit is below 60?
A lot, actually. Only about 60% of the Autobahn have no speed limit. And that’s not counting construction sites (where this probably was)
Yes, it happened in a section with 80 km/h (50 mph) limit due to ongoing construction works. Usually there the limit is 100 km/h (62 mph) as it is known to be an accident blackspot before a junction.
60mph is the lowest highway limit in my area in the Midwest
The costumed hero’s fine, if the cops catch him, would be 100 euros. And to me, it would be well worth that.
I think we can all admit it is stupid and dangerous and would be no laughing matter if Anyone had died but still…
And the thumbnail is perfect.
I’m assuming the driver’s visibility is significantly worse in a Cookie Monster mask!
That seems like this week’s safest assumption.
Hahahaah…I have a picture of my wife speeding in Simmerath when we had a weekend trip. It is hilarious every time I look at it, she looks like a deer caught in the head lights.
Speeding tickets are mild in Germany compared to the Netherlands, only 15 euro.
Only half of what a parking ticket costs where I live.
However, parking on the highway is more expensive: 70 € and one penalty point.
